The call

Agility ships and gets paid today, but Tesla, Figure, and shared AI brains are closing the gap fast heading into 2026.

Agility Robotics builds humanoid robots that move boxes in warehouses. The company has shipped thousands of robots to real customers like GXO and has a head start that matters today, but Tesla, Figure, and Boston Dynamics have far more money and factories, so they can copy Agility's design and undercut it in a few years. The biggest risk is that Tesla's Optimus robot and NVIDIA's robot brain software get good enough by 2026 that Agility's lead evaporates, unless Agility's own new robot (Digit v5) ships on time and its deployed robots prove they actually save money for customers.

Why
01
AI pressure: NVIDIA Isaac GR00T foundation models. Shared AI brains from NVIDIA make every humanoid smarter alike, so Agility's edge shrinks to hardware and factory output. Could AI do the core job? Only partly.
02
Bigger players: Tesla Optimus, Figure AI, Boston Dynamics. Tesla ramps Optimus production in Fremont near Agility's own plant, and Figure AI is valued near $39 billion with deeper pockets. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. Only Western humanoid running paid, sustained warehouse work: 100,000+ totes moved at GXO with real customer contracts.
What would change this call
Tesla Optimus signs a paid third party enterprise customer. Would show Tesla moving from internal use to direct competition for Agility's deployment lead.
Digit v5 launches fall 2026 with new multi-year OEM contracts. Would show Agility hardening its lead into longer term exclusivity.
Agility SPAC S-4 with Churchill Capital Corp XI closes or stalls by year end 2026. Would show whether public market validates or discounts Agility's valuation and timeline.
Key numbers
  • 100,000+ totes moved at GXO Logistics (2026-05-19)
  • $300 million in contract orders secured (2026-07-17)
  • SPAC values Agility at $2.5 billion (2026-06-24)
Named risks
  • Tesla and Figure AI have 10 to 15 times more capital to replicate Agility's manufacturing and deployment lead. Severity: high
  • SPAC merger with Churchill Capital Corp XI still pending SEC review as of July 2026, closing risk through year-end 2026. Severity: medium
  • NVIDIA GR00T foundation models commoditize the AI brains layer, collapsing differentiation to hardware and capital scale. Severity: medium
  • Flagship customer GXO already multi-sources with rival Apptronik. Severity: medium
  • No disclosed profitability; revenue estimated only in low tens of millions against a $2.5 billion valuation. Severity: medium

Questions people ask
Is Agility Robotics profitable in 2026?
No. Agility does not disclose formal financials, but an estimate suggests annual run-rate revenue in the low tens of millions of dollars as of early 2026, based on roughly 100 deployed Digit units at $30/hour RaaS pricing, well short of profitability given a $2.5 billion SPAC valuation announced June 24, 2026.
Could Tesla Optimus replace Agility's Digit robot?
Possibly. Tesla plans Optimus mass production at its Fremont plant in 2026, geographically adjacent to Agility's new Fremont facility opened July 16, 2026. Agility currently leads with 100,000+ totes moved at GXO Logistics since 2024, but Tesla has 10 to 15 times more capital to catch up.
Who owns Agility Robotics?
Agility Robotics is private as of mid-2026 but is merging with Churchill Capital Corp XI, a SPAC run by Michael Klein, in a deal valuing the combined company at $2.5 billion announced June 24, 2026. Investors include Amazon, NVIDIA's NVentures, SoftBank Vision Fund 2, and Schaeffler.
Who is Agility Robotics' biggest competitor?
Tesla Optimus and Figure AI are the biggest threats. Figure AI reportedly reached a ~$39 billion valuation after a $1 billion raise in September 2025, and Tesla is ramping Optimus production in Fremont in 2026, both far better-funded than Agility's ~$2.12-2.5 billion valuation.
Has Agility Robotics gone public yet?
Not yet as of July 2026. Agility confidentially submitted a draft S-4 registration statement to the SEC on July 14, 2026, for its merger with Churchill Capital Corp XI, with the deal expected to close by the end of 2026 under ticker AGLT.
What is Agility Robotics' biggest business risk?
Its commercial lead in deployed humanoid robots, 100,000+ totes moved at GXO Logistics, is real but narrow and could be overtaken as Tesla, Figure AI, and Boston Dynamics scale manufacturing with 10 to 15 times more capital, especially once NVIDIA's GR00T foundation models commoditize the software layer across all vendors.
