The call

Assort Health has funding, logos, and fast growth, but sits on Epic's data and in a field crowded with other AI voice rivals selling the same pitch.

Assort Health builds software that lets hospital patients call in and talk to AI to schedule appointments, refill medicines, and answer health questions. Right now it is hard to copy because the company spent years learning how different hospital computer systems work and how to follow strict health privacy rules that other startups have not figured out yet. However, Epic Systems (the giant company that runs most hospital computer systems in America) could build the same thing directly into its own software, which would give Epic a big advantage since hospitals already use Epic every day. The real question is whether Epic decides to build this themselves or keep letting Assort Health do it, and whether Assort Health can prove it is making enough money to justify what the company is worth today.

Why
01
AI pressure: Notable Health, Hyro, and Luma Health (AI voice-agent rivals). Competing AI voice-agent platforms already sell patient-access bots into the same specialty clinics and health systems Assort targets. Could AI do the core job? Only partly.
02
Bigger players: Epic Systems. Epic sits on the EHR data Assort integrates with and could bundle its own native voice agent into MyChart at any time. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. HIPAA-compliant, specialty-tuned call workflows wired deep into Epic and Athena data, costly to rip out once live in a clinic.
What would change this call
Epic announces or ships a native patient-access voice agent in MyChart within 12 months. Would show Epic closing off the integration moat Assort relies on.
Assort discloses audited revenue figures or a Series D round within a year. Would resolve the $3.5M-$41.2M revenue gap and test the $1.2B valuation.
Named customers like OrthoIndy or John Muir Health publicly switch to Notable, Hyro, or Luma Health. Would show real customer loss to same-industry rivals, not just competitive noise.
Key numbers

Named risks
  • No audited revenue disclosed; aggregator estimates diverge 10x ($3.5M vs $41.2M). Severity: high
  • Epic Systems could ship a native patient-access voice agent bundled into MyChart. Severity: high
  • Crowded field of similarly funded rivals (Hyro, Notable, Luma, Prosper) erodes differentiation. Severity: medium
  • Hypergrowth headcount scaling (309.6% YoY) risks execution and culture strain. Severity: medium
  • Sector-wide skepticism: Gartner forecasts over 40% of agentic AI projects canceled by 2027. Severity: medium

Questions people ask
Is Assort Health profitable in 2026?
No audited financials exist. Assort Health has raised $222M across four rounds through June 2026 and hit a $1.2B valuation on June 24, 2026, but revenue is undisclosed and aggregator estimates diverge by 10x, so profitability cannot be confirmed.
Could AI or Epic replace Assort Health?
Epic Systems, the dominant EHR vendor Assort integrates with, is not barred from building a native patient-access voice agent and hasn't done so as of July 2026. OpenAI's ChatGPT Health launched nationwide July 23, 2026, signaling frontier labs circling adjacent healthcare turf.
Who are Assort Health's biggest competitors?
Direct rivals in healthcare voice AI include Hyro, Notable, Luma Health, Prosper AI and Artera, per an April 29, 2026 comparison. Assort itself just hired executives away from Luma Health, Samsara and Gusto in July 2026.
Who owns Assort Health?
Assort Health is privately held and venture-backed, founded in 2023 by co-CEOs Jon Wang and Jeffery Liu. Its June 2026 Series C was led by Menlo Ventures with Lightspeed, Quiet Capital, Tau Ventures, First Round Capital and Joe Montana as investors.

Assort Health has raised over $222 million total across four rounds in about two years: $3.5M seed (March 2024), $22M Series A (April 2025), $76M Series B (September/October 2025), and $120M Series C (June 24, 2026) at a $1.2B valuation.
What does Assort Health's platform actually do?
Assort OS is a voice AI agent platform automating patient scheduling, intake, referrals, document processing, medication refills, payments and insurance eligibility checks, integrating natively with Epic and Athena EHR systems, per a June 25, 2026 announcement.
