The call

Assured has real product and carrier plumbing, but every traction number is self-reported, and DXC just shipped a rival tool to the same buyers.

Assured built software that uses artificial intelligence to help insurance companies process claims faster. It has real customers and works with their existing systems, but that advantage is disappearing quickly. DXC and ServiceNow already released competing software in April 2026, and Guidewire and Duck Creek, which sell the main computer systems that insurance companies rely on, could add the same features themselves without much trouble. The story changes completely if Assured signs major insurance company customers in the next year or two, or if independent data shows its customers are keeping the software and finding real value, not just trying it out.

Why
01
AI pressure: Five Sigma (Clive), EvolutionIQ, Reserv, Sprout.ai, and other agentic-claims point solutions. Multiple funded rivals chase the same claims-AI wedge with carriers, none yet publicly displacing Assured. Could AI do the core job? Only partly.
02
Bigger players: DXC Technology with ServiceNow, plus Guidewire and Duck Creek. DXC shipped agentic claims tooling ('Assure Smart Apps') in April 2026, and core-systems vendors could bundle similar features natively. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. Existing carrier integrations and structured claims data, though no independently verified logos or retention numbers back this up.
What would change this call
DXC/ServiceNow's Assure Smart Apps wins named carrier logos within 12-18 months. Would show incumbents can displace Assured without structural barriers.
Guidewire or Duck Creek announces bundled native agentic claims-AI feature. Would remove Assured's core-systems integration advantage.
Assured discloses independently verified carrier retention or revenue figures. Would confirm or undercut its currently vendor-only traction claims.
Key numbers
  • $1B valuation, March 2025 (2025-03-04)
  • ~65 employees, mid-2026 (2026-07-20)
  • Vendor claims Emma handles 70% of interactions (2026-05-22)
Named risks
  • Core-systems incumbents (DXC, Guidewire, Duck Creek) face no structural barrier to shipping native agentic claims tools; DXC already did in April 2026. Severity: high
  • All traction, retention, and usage metrics are vendor-authored with no independent third-party verification found. Severity: medium
  • Capital asymmetry versus rivals like Corgi, which reached $4B valuation by July 2026 versus Assured's $1B in March 2025. Severity: medium
  • Small team of roughly 65 employees competing against much larger, better-resourced incumbents and BPOs. Severity: medium
  • Crowded category with multiple similarly positioned, well-funded point-solution peers targeting the same carrier buyers. Severity: medium

Questions people ask
Is Assured (the claims-automation insurtech) profitable in 2026?
No audited revenue or profitability figures are publicly disclosed. Assured was last valued at roughly $1 billion in a March 2025 round led by ICONIQ Growth and Kleiner Perkins. Traction metrics like claim volumes are vendor-stated only, with no independent financial disclosure found as of July 2026.
Who owns Assured, the AI claims-automation startup?
Assured is privately held and venture-backed, with no parent company. Investors include ICONIQ Growth and Kleiner Perkins, who led a March 2025 round valuing it near $1 billion, plus earlier backers Costanoa Ventures, DCM, Global Founders Capital, KKR, and Strada Holdings from its December 2019 seed round.
Could AI replace Assured's own business?
Assured's product is itself AI automating claims work, giving it some insulation as a regulated, action-taking workflow rather than a pure chatbot. But as a thin model-agnostic wrapper, it faces margin compression risk if frontier labs or larger vendors build equivalent agentic claims tools directly, as DXC did in April 2026.
Who is Assured's biggest competitor in AI claims automation?
DXC Technologies, partnered with ServiceNow, launched competing agentic claims tooling called Assure Smart Apps in April 2026 targeting the same insurance carriers. CB Insights also names Reserv, itel, Sprout.ai, EvolutionIQ, omni:us, and CLARA Analytics as direct point-solution rivals.
How much funding has Assured raised, and how does it compare to rivals?
Assured disclosed roughly $42 million through prior rounds before a March 2025 raise valued it near $1 billion. By contrast, rival insurtech Corgi tripled its valuation from about $1.3 billion to $4 billion in roughly three months, across three rounds ending July 23, 2026.
What does Assured's AI agent Emma actually do?
Emma is Assured's agentic AI assistant for insurance claims, which the company says has handled more than 50 million customer interactions for top insurers and autonomously manages about 70% of customer interactions, per Assured's own May 22, 2026 blog post. These figures are vendor-stated and unverified independently.
