The call

Baidu Cloud's AI infrastructure grows fast while its parent's search revenue shrinks, and Alibaba and Huawei both press on its home turf.

Baidu Cloud rents computing power and AI tools to businesses in China, and it is growing quickly because companies want AI services. The problem is that Alibaba and Huawei also rent similar services and have bigger shares of the market, plus they offer cheaper AI models that customers can use instead of Baidu's. The biggest question is whether Baidu can keep customers from switching to Alibaba's cheaper coding tools and AI services over the next year or two.

Why
01
AI pressure: DeepSeek and Alibaba's Qwen open-weight models. Cheaper open-weight models like Qwen and DeepSeek undercut Baidu's ERNIE pricing on the same cloud infrastructure. Could AI do the core job? Only partly.
02
Bigger players: Alibaba Cloud and Huawei Cloud. Alibaba leads total cloud share and coding tools 47.6% to 6%; Huawei holds 30.1% of GPU cloud versus Baidu's 40.4%. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. Kunlunxin chips, Baige platform, and ERNIE models are fused into one stack, hard to copy fast in China's chip-restricted market.
