The call

Beacons is a small challenger squeezed between a much bigger rival copying its moves and AI tools eating the content work it used to sell.

Beacons helps creators and small businesses build landing pages and sell products through a single link in their social media bio. It is hard to compete because Linktree is already 30 times bigger, already copied Beacons' marketplace idea, and has better relationships with platforms like TikTok, while free AI tools like ChatGPT can now do what Beacons sells (designing pages, writing copy) just as well. The one thing that could save Beacons is if its payment system and data about creator spending habits become so useful that brands and creators stick around and refer others, but that would take years to build at a much larger scale than it operates today.

Why
01
AI pressure: ChatGPT/Gemini and general AI content tools. Its main pitch, AI-made media kits and page copy, is exactly the templated task general models now do for free. Could AI do the core job? Yes, likely.
02
Bigger players: Linktree. Linktree has 30x the ARR, 24.7M users, TikTok whitelisting, and copied Beacons' commerce push via its Koji acquisition. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. A small base of creators already using Beacons for Brands and embedded payments, though this is unproven at scale.

Questions people ask
Is Beacons profitable in 2026?
No profitability figures have been disclosed. Third-party estimator Getlatka pegged Beacons at roughly $10.8M ARR as of April 2025, and trackers like Caplight described the company as showing no recent growth signals and no new funding since its 2022-2023 Series A.
Could AI replace Beacons.ai's core features?
Largely yes. Beacons' main draws, AI-generated media kits, page design, and brand outreach copy, are templated content generation that general assistants like ChatGPT and Gemini can already do for free, leaving payments and creator-brand data as its only unproven moat.
Who is Beacons' biggest competitor?
Linktree, the Melbourne-based incumbent, is Beacons' main rival. Linktree raised $110M at a $1.3B valuation in March 2022 and reached an estimated $61.6M ARR by November 2025, roughly six times Beacons' estimated $10.8M ARR.
Who owns or funds Beacons.ai?
Beacons is privately venture-backed, founded January 2019 by CEO Neal Jean with co-founders David Zeng, Jesse Zhang and Greg Luppescu. It closed a $6M seed round led by Andreessen Horowitz in 2024, with Atelier Ventures and The Chainsmokers also participating.
Is Beacons losing users to Linktree or TikTok blocks?
Since mid-2024, TikTok has intermittently blocked the beacons.ai domain in bios, a direct traffic threat, according to a March 2026 review. Meanwhile a February 2026 comparison cited Beacons at roughly 740,000 users versus Linktree's 24.7 million.
Has Beacons raised new funding recently?
No new priced round has been publicly disclosed since a Series A around 2022-2023. As of April 7, 2025, Caplight put cumulative disclosed funding at about $29.1 to $29.2M with a most recently disclosed valuation near $32.4M.
