The call

A seven-person Hong Kong pearl trader with shrinking revenue is going public at a valuation that assumes growth nothing in its filings currently shows.

C&K Group buys and sells pearls and jewelry wholesale to retailers and traders in Hong Kong. Any other small trading company can do what C&K does: supplier relationships and auction access are normal business tools, not rare advantages, so there is nothing stopping a competitor from taking its customers or a big retailer like Chow Tai Fook from buying pearls directly and cutting out the middleman. The one thing that matters is whether C&K can stop its sales from falling after going public on Nasdaq; if sales keep dropping while the stock price stays inflated, investors could panic and the company could face pressure to delist or shut down.

Why
01
AI pressure: AI-powered B2B sourcing marketplaces (e.g. Alibaba.com gem/jewelry matching tools). AI price-matching on B2B marketplaces could let buyers skip small traders like C&K and source pearls direct from farms and auctions. Could AI do the core job? Only partly.
02
Bigger players: Chow Tai Fook, Chow Sang Sang, Luk Fook. These branded retail giants already run their own supply chains; if they pull sourcing in-house, wholesalers like C&K lose a customer, not gain a rival. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. Long-standing pearl auction access and supplier ties across Australia, Tahiti, Indonesia and China, though every rival trader has the same access.
