The call

A small, profitable coaching operator sits inside a shrinking Kota market where bigger, better-funded rivals are spreading out and AI tools are copying its online products.

Career Point Limited runs a coaching business that prepares students for competitive exams in India, mainly from its base in Kota. The business is shrinking because the overall market for in-person coaching has dropped 45% in three years, and students are increasingly using free or cheap AI tutoring apps instead of paying for recorded lectures and practice tests. At the same time, much larger competitors like Allen and Aakash have more money, more locations, and better brand names, making it hard for Career Point to survive on its own. The one thing that could save it is if the company builds its own AI tutor tool or finds a special way to teach that students can't get elsewhere, but so far there is no sign of that happening.

Why
01
AI pressure: Generic AI tutoring apps and chatbot-based test-prep tools. AI tutors and auto-generated test series copy Career Point's recorded-lecture and online SKUs at near-zero cost. Could AI do the core job? Yes, likely.
02
Bigger players: Allen Career Institute and Aakash Educational Services. Both rivals are decentralizing into tier-2/3 cities while Career Point stays Kota-heavy, even as Allen's own Kota enrollment also falls. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. High margins and low debt let it ride out a shrinking market longer than weaker players, but nothing stops the shrinkage itself.

Questions people ask
Is Career Point Limited still a coaching company?
No. Following an NCLT order dated October 22, 2024, Career Point Limited's education business was demerged effective April 1, 2025 into a new entity, Career Point Edutech Limited, while the original listed company was renamed CP Capital Limited and repositioned as an NBFC lending business.

Its physical classroom and hostel network in Kota is harder to replicate but not exclusive to Career Point.

Is Career Point Edutech losing ground to Allen and Aakash?
Yes, on scale. Allen operates 300+ centres across 70 cities with about 350,000 students and Aakash claims roughly 400,000 students across 300+ centres (vendor-claimed, March 2026), while Career Point Edutech remains a small Kota-centered player with a market cap near ₹340 crore as of July 17, 2026.
