The call

Careers360 makes money and owns real data, but most of its business rides on Google traffic that Google itself is starting to intercept.

Careers360 helps Indian students find colleges and prepare for entrance exams, making money by sending them to educational websites and selling ads. Two years ago it would have been hard to replace because Google sent it most of its visitors and it owned detailed admission data that took years to build, but Google just launched its own AI exam helper (Gemini) in January 2026 that answers the same questions for free, skipping Careers360 entirely. The one thing that could save it is if Google decides the company's data is valuable enough to keep licensing and paying for instead of building their own version, but that deal is secret and could disappear at any time.

Why
01
AI pressure: Google Gemini/AI Mode in Search. Google's own exam-prep AI now answers the same queries Careers360 built its traffic on, cutting into the 67% it gets from Google search. Could AI do the core job? Only partly.
02
Bigger players: Google. Google controls the pipe Careers360 depends on and is now also building the destination, squeezing the middleman from both ends. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. Proprietary cutoff data and the NoPaperForms admissions software that colleges are locked into using.
What would change this call
Careers360 organic search traffic drops 25% or more in one admission cycle (2026-2027). Google's AI Mode is diverting students who used to land on careers360.com.
Google discloses or expands a paid content licensing deal with Careers360 beyond NEET/JEE vetting. Careers360's proprietary cutoff data is becoming a durable revenue line, not just free input to Google.
Careers360 announces new funding, acquisition talks, or a founder-liquidity event. Investors see a path to exit or growth after a decade with no round since 2016.

Questions people ask
Is Careers360 profitable in 2026?
Yes. Per Inc42's filings-based estimate, Careers360 posted FY24 revenue of ₹46.1 crore (about $5.5M), up 15.2% YoY, with PAT of ₹1.6 crore and estimated EBITDA of ₹5.4 crore, as reported 2026-05-28. It is small but profitable, not high-growth.
Could AI replace Careers360's college predictor tools?
Partly. Google's Gemini began offering free JEE Main practice tests grounded in Careers360-vetted content on 2026-01-28, later extending to NEET UG in April/May 2026. Careers360's cutoff-data and NoPaperForms admissions-SaaS lock-in are harder to replicate, but its Google-organic traffic funnel (67% of visits) is directly exposed.
Who is Careers360's biggest competitor?
Shiksha.com, owned by Info Edge (Naukri.com), is the largest rival with roughly 29.79M to 46.86M monthly visits versus Careers360's 13-17M as of June 2026, per SEMrush data. Google itself is also now a competitor via Gemini AI exam-prep features launched January 2026.
Who owns Careers360?
Careers360 is privately held under the legal entity Pathfinder Publishing Pvt. Ltd., founded in 2008 by Maheshwer Peri, a former Outlook Group executive. No public listing or disclosed acquisition has occurred as of mid-2026, per CBInsights data dated 2026-01-27.
Has Careers360 raised new funding recently?
No. The most recent disclosed funding round is a Series A from January 2016, with early angel investment in 2014 from Mahesh Murthy and Ranjan Pai. No later round, valuation markup, or acquisition has been publicly reported as of Inc42's 2026-05-28 tracker.
Why did Google partner with Careers360 instead of building its own exam-prep content?
Google licensed and vetted Careers360's content for Gemini's JEE Main practice tests, announced 2026-01-28, because Careers360 holds proprietary cutoff-data and admissions history across 20+ state counselling processes that a generic AI model cannot easily replicate without licensed data.
