The call

Catchpoint has real monitoring infrastructure but now sits inside a PE-owned rollup shedding staff while Cisco and Datadog push AI-driven observability in the same deals.

Catchpoint measures how the internet actually works for customers by running 3,000 global sensor points that track real network paths, something it has built over 17 years. It was bought by LogicMonitor (owned by private equity firm Vista) in late 2025 and is now being folded into that bigger product rather than run as its own company. Cisco's ThousandEyes and Datadog both do similar work and are already bundled into enterprise deals, so Catchpoint has real competitors on the same shelves. The real question is whether LogicMonitor will keep investing in Catchpoint as a separate product or will hollow it out and let it fade into the background, a decision that will show up first in whether the company stops bleeding employees and whether it still wins deals against Cisco and Datadog.

Why
01
AI pressure: Datadog Bits AI SRE Agent. Datadog's AI agent pitches one-stop observability, pulling budget away from standalone monitoring tools like Catchpoint. Could AI do the core job? Unlikely.
02
Bigger players: Cisco (via ThousandEyes). ThousandEyes competes directly in the same deals with Cisco's distribution and bundling reach behind it. Could a giant copy it? Probably.
03
What protects it. A 17-year-old network of 3,000+ global vantage points that took years to build and is hard to copy fast.

Questions people ask
Is Catchpoint still an independent company in 2026?
No. Vista Equity Partners backed LogicMonitor completed its acquisition of Catchpoint on December 2, 2025 for a reported $220 to 250 million plus in cash, making Catchpoint a business unit inside LogicMonitor rather than a standalone company as of mid 2026.
Is Catchpoint profitable?
No audited financials are public. Third party estimators put 2023 revenue near $20.1M and 2024 near $27.8M, but these are unverified estimates, and Catchpoint was sold to LogicMonitor for cash in December 2025 rather than pursuing an IPO.
Is Catchpoint laying off employees?
Headcount data shows a steep decline: from about 306 employees in September 2021 to about 176 by June 2026, a roughly 37% year over year drop, coinciding with LogicMonitor's integration of Catchpoint after the December 2025 acquisition.
Who is Catchpoint's biggest competitor?
Cisco's ThousandEyes is the closest like for like rival, with vendor marketing citing use by 355 of the Global 2000 and 180 of the Fortune 500 as of 2026. Datadog is also encroaching, having joined the S&P 500 in July 2025 and shipped AI agents in 2026.
Could AI replace what Catchpoint does?
AI is automating the root cause analysis and alert triage layer, as seen in LogicMonitor's Edwin AI ingesting Catchpoint data since the December 2025 acquisition, but Catchpoint's 3,000+ physical vantage point network, built since 2008, cannot be replicated by AI alone.
Who owns Catchpoint now?
LogicMonitor owns Catchpoint, having acquired it for roughly $220 to 250 million plus in cash on December 2, 2025. LogicMonitor itself is backed by Vista Equity Partners, Golub Capital, and PSG Equity.
