The call

CloudWalk profitably serves Brazilian merchants with payments and credit, licenses and data rivals lack, while its US bet stays unproven.

CloudWalk lends money and processes payments for small businesses in Brazil, making about $1.3 billion a year while turning a profit. It is hard to copy because it has government licenses to operate and knows which merchants are risky based on years of data, but bigger rivals like Stone and PagSeguro are using the same AI tools CloudWalk uses to work faster and smarter. The big question is whether CloudWalk can grow its US business (through JIM.com) before its Brazilian advantages get eroded by competitors catching up on efficiency.

Why
01
AI pressure: None apparent. AI cuts CloudWalk's own costs and sharpens credit underwriting; no AI-only challenger holds Brazil's payment and lending licenses. Could AI do the core job? Unlikely.
02
Bigger players: StoneCo, PagSeguro, Nubank, and bank-owned Cielo and Rede. StoneCo, PagSeguro, Nubank, and bank-owned Cielo and Rede all sell competing merchant payments and credit across Brazil. Could a giant copy it? Probably.
03
What protects it. Central Bank payment and credit licenses, proprietary merchant transaction data, and a lean team rivals can't easily match.
What would change this call
JIM.com reports US merchant count or retention data by Q3 2026. Shows whether CloudWalk's US expansion is gaining real traction against Square.
StoneCo or PagSeguro publish revenue-per-employee or margin figures closing the gap with CloudWalk. Would show incumbents narrowing CloudWalk's AI-driven efficiency advantage in Brazil.
CloudWalk raises a new priced equity round. Would reveal whether its valuation has risen or fallen from the 2021 $2.15B mark.

Named risks

  • Equity valuation stale since Nov 2021 $2.15B round despite revenue nearly quadrupling since then. Severity: medium
  • Receivables-financing (FIDC) book could turn from profit engine to drag in a credit-cycle shock. Severity: medium
  • Revenue-per-employee efficiency edge could erode if Stone or PagSeguro close the AI-labor gap. Severity: medium
  • Regulatory action risk given newly acquired SCFI credit license and rapid FIDC issuance pace. Severity: low

Questions people ask
Is CloudWalk profitable in 2026?
Yes. CloudWalk reported $110M net income for full-year 2025 (up 90% YoY) on $990M revenue, crossing a $1.3B annualized run rate by December 2025, per company figures reported March 11, 2026.
Who owns CloudWalk?
CloudWalk is privately held, founded in 2013 by Luis Silva. Investors include Coatue Management, DST Global and others from a $150M Series C in November 2021 that set its last disclosed valuation at $2.15 billion.
Could AI replace CloudWalk's business?
No standalone AI tool can replace it: CloudWalk holds a Brazilian Central Bank payment license (2022) and a credit institution (SCFI) license obtained June 2025, plus proprietary merchant data, which frontier AI models cannot substitute without equivalent licensing.
Who is CloudWalk's biggest competitor?
In Brazil, StoneCo (~$2.6B 2025 revenue) and PagSeguro (~$3.7B 2025 revenue) are the closest rivals; in the US, CloudWalk's JIM.com (Android launched February 20, 2026) directly targets Square/Block's small-merchant base.
Is CloudWalk expanding to the US successfully?
It is early. JIM.com launched on iOS in early 2025 and added Android on February 20, 2026, pricing transactions at 1.99% versus Square's 2.6%+10 cents, but no independently verified US traction numbers had been reported as of that date.
What is CloudWalk's current valuation?
The last confirmed equity valuation is $2.15 billion, set in a $150M Series C led by Coatue in November 2021. No newer priced equity round had been publicly confirmed as of mid 2026, despite revenue tripling since then.
