The call

Druva sits in the Gartner Leaders quadrant with real enterprise trust, but five years without a new funding round and shrinking headcount raise questions about momentum against better-funded rivals.

Druva stores and protects companies' data in the cloud, helping them follow industry rules and work with AI tools. It is hard to replace because it has deep connections to many systems and real certifications that take years to build, but two rivals, Rubrik and Cohesity-Veritas, are growing faster and have more money to spend. The company has not raised new funding in five years and shrunk its team, so its value has not grown, which means the real question is whether Druva can stay ahead of these competitors or ends up bought by a bigger company before it gets left behind.

Why
01
AI pressure: None apparent. AI is mostly a product feature for Druva right now: it launched DruAI agents and Claude Code backup, not a threat replacing its core custody role. Could AI do the core job? Unlikely.
02
Bigger players: Rubrik and Cohesity-Veritas. Rubrik trades publicly and leads Gartner's vision ranking; Cohesity-Veritas merged in December 2024 with wider workload coverage and a bigger sales force. Could a giant copy it? Probably.
03
What protects it. Deep compliance certifications, entrenched integrations, and Fortune 500 data custody relationships that are costly and risky to rip out.
What would change this call
Druva announces a new priced funding round or IPO filing within 12 months. Would show investors still value Druva despite the 5-year funding freeze.
2026/2027 Gartner MQ shows Druva dropped from Leader to Visionary/Challenger. Would confirm Rubrik and Cohesity-Veritas are overtaking Druva's market position.
Druva headcount falls further below the current 1,380 employees. Would indicate continued contraction rather than growth.

Questions people ask
Is Druva profitable in 2026?
Druva has not disclosed profitability figures. Its last confirmed revenue milestone is surpassing $200 million in annual recurring revenue as of August 30, 2023, per its own press release. As a private company with no funding round since April 2021, no audited profit or loss data is publicly available.
Has Druva raised new funding recently or updated its valuation?
No. Druva's last disclosed round was a $147 million Series H in April 2021 led by CDPQ, valuing it over $2 billion. As of mid 2026, multiple trackers still cite that same $2B figure, meaning the valuation is more than five years stale with no new priced round disclosed.
Could AI replace Druva's backup and recovery business?
Unlikely to eliminate it outright. Druva holds direct custody of customer backup data plus FedRAMP, SOC2, GDPR and IRAP certifications that AI models cannot replicate. In July 2026 it launched AI Resilience, backing up Microsoft Copilot and Claude Code data, positioning itself as infrastructure for AI rather than a target.
Who is Druva's biggest competitor?
Rubrik and the merged Cohesity-Veritas entity. Rubrik led the 2025 Gartner Magic Quadrant on completeness of vision and is publicly traded, while Cohesity completed its merger with Veritas in December 2024, broadening workload coverage and sales muscle against Druva's Leader-quadrant position.
Who owns Druva?
Druva is privately held and venture-backed, founded in 2008 by Jaspreet Singh, Milind Borate, and Ramani Kothandaraman. Its last major investor round was April 2021, led by CDPQ with Neuberger Berman, Viking Global Investors, and Atreides Management, valuing it above $2 billion.
Has Druva filed for an IPO?
No active IPO process has been reported. CEO Jaspreet Singh has said an IPO is a plausible eventual outcome but gave no timeline, according to a November 2023 report. As of July 2026, Druva remains private with no funding update since April 2021.
