The call

Eruditus runs a real, near-breakeven business built on rented university credibility, with its own B2B arm as the one piece it actually controls.

Eruditus sells online business courses by partnering with universities like Wharton and MIT, taking a cut of tuition while the universities provide the brand and teaching. The problem: universities are learning to run these programs themselves (like Harvard Online and Stanford Online already do), and AI tools like ChatGPT can now write essays and grade work cheaply or free, making the lower-priced courses less valuable. The one thing that could save Eruditus is its B2B side, selling training to companies, which it actually owns and controls rather than rents from universities, but that business needs to grow much faster than it is now to matter.

Why
01
AI pressure: ChatGPT/Claude and generic AI tutors as free substitutes for lower-tier certificate content. Free AI tutors can replicate basic certificate content, pushing Eruditus toward higher-touch B2B programs instead. Could AI do the core job? Only partly.
02
Bigger players: Harvard Business School Online and Stanford Online (direct-to-learner university programs). Top universities already run their own branded online courses, showing they can skip revenue-share partners like Eruditus. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. Long-term co-branding deals with 90+ universities and India regulatory approvals give it trust and access that are slow to copy.
What would change this call
Whether MIT, Harvard, or Wharton renews or ends its Eruditus co-branded partnership by 2027. Would show if universities are disintermediating Eruditus's rented distribution moat.
Whether India's UGC approves the remaining 6 of 7 partner university foreign-campus applications by 2027. Would show if regulatory delays are structurally blocking growth as feared.
Whether Emeritus Enterprise (B2B) revenue reaches 40% of total by FY29 as management projects. Would show if the owned corporate-contract moat is offsetting consumer-side erosion.

Questions people ask
Is Eruditus Executive Education profitable in 2026?
Not fully. EBITDA loss narrowed from Rs417 crore in FY23 to just Rs69 crore in FY24, reported April 2025. The founder targeted over Rs5,000 crore (~$520-530M) revenue for FY25, but no confirmed net profit figure has been disclosed as of mid-2026.
What is Eruditus's current valuation?
Inc42 lists Eruditus's last-known valuation at $3.10B as of October 18, 2024, tied to a $150M round led by TPG Rise. This followed a TechCrunch report in August 2024 suggesting a possible down-round to $2.3B, so the figure remains contested.
Could AI replace Eruditus's courses?
Eruditus already automates essay grading with a human-in-the-loop AI system (reported May 2026), and generic tutoring content faces free-chatbot substitution. Its moat is co-branded partnerships with MIT, Harvard and Wharton, credentials AI cannot independently confer.
Who is Eruditus's biggest competitor?
Coursera, with over 150M registered learners and 300+ partners as of March 2026, dwarfs Eruditus's 1M+ learners reported July 2026. 2U/edX is a closer structural peer that underwent debt restructuring after universities chose to insource delivery.
Is Eruditus planning an IPO?
Yes. Eruditus has been flipping its corporate domicile from Singapore to India since 2024 ahead of a planned listing. As of a June 2026 report the flip remained incomplete, with executives still citing an 18-24 month timeline.
Are Eruditus's university partnerships at risk?
Only one of seven partnered foreign universities, the University of Liverpool, had received Indian ministry approval to operate a campus under UGC 2022 rules as of June 2026, with six others still pending, a key bottleneck for its India growth plan.
