The call

FEDU now survives as a small China travel and study-camp seller with thin profits, facing a 2027 NYSE review and far bigger education rivals moving into its space.

Four Seasons Education used to teach kids after school in China but was banned from making money doing that in 2021. The company now tries to survive by running travel and study camps instead, but this business is easy to copy and larger competitors like New Oriental and TAL can do it much cheaper and better. Free AI tutoring tools like those from Khan Academy are also replacing what Four Seasons still offers in learning content, and the company has no special technology or customer lock-in to stop that. The one thing that could matter is if the company can prove its travel and camp business is growing faster than expected in late 2026 and early 2027, but if revenue slows down or it loses enough stock traders, it will get kicked off the New York Stock Exchange and likely collapse.

Why
01
AI pressure: Generative AI tutoring apps (Khanmigo-style adaptive learning tools). AI tools can copy its remaining learning-services content cheaply, but tourism now brings in more revenue than learning does. Could AI do the core job? Yes, likely.
02
Bigger players: New Oriental Education (EDU) and TAL Education (TAL). New Oriental and TAL, 100 to 300 times larger, are pivoting into the same non-academic tutoring and study-camp niche FEDU now depends on. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. Tourism-services revenue now exceeds learning-services revenue and the company posted a profit, giving it cash flow rivals have not chased yet.

Questions people ask
Is Four Seasons Education profitable in 2026?
Yes, modestly. FY2026 (ended Feb 28, 2026) revenue was RMB254.4 million with net income of RMB29.1 million per its 20-F filed June 17, 2026. Trailing-twelve-month figures as of mid-2026 show roughly $37.1 million revenue and $4.5 million profit, though the company remains a distressed microcap by balance-sheet metrics.
Could AI replace Four Seasons Education's tutoring products?
Its remaining Learning Technology and Content Solutions segment covers personalized practice and adaptive content, the exact category AI tutors like Khanmigo commoditize at low cost. As of July 2026 no proprietary AI product tied to Four Seasons Education was confirmed, leaving this segment exposed to substitution.
Who is Four Seasons Education's biggest competitor?
New Oriental Education (NYSE: EDU, market cap ~$7.8B as of June 2026) and TAL Education (NYSE: TAL, ~$5.6B) are both 100 to 300 times larger than Four Seasons Education's ~$20-27 million market cap and are pivoting into the same non-academic tutoring and study-camp niche.
Is Four Seasons Education at risk of NYSE delisting?
It regained NYSE compliance on February 10, 2026 after a non-compliance notice, but remains subject to a 12-month follow-up review through roughly February 2027. Shares outstanding are thin (~2.26 million) with recorded trading halts in January and March 2026, raising renewed delisting risk if trading volume or holder counts slip.
Who owns Four Seasons Education?
Founder and chairman Tian Peiqing, through Four Seasons Education Holdings Limited, held about 39.8% of roughly 22.6 million ordinary shares outstanding as of December 31, 2025. Insiders overall control about 63.9% of shares as of mid-2026, with institutional ownership at only about 3.0%.
What happened to Four Seasons Education's original tutoring business?
It ceased K-9 academic after-school tutoring in mainland China by the end of 2021 to comply with Beijing's Double Reduction policy banning for-profit core-subject tutoring. It pivoted into Tourism Services and study camps, which generated CNY138.3 million versus CNY108.05 million from Learning Services in FY2025.
