The call

Glia's compliance-grade AI wrapper still locks banks in, but four years without a disclosed funding round at roughly $90M in estimated revenue leaves its capital structure an open question.

Glia makes software that banks use to handle customer calls and chats through AI, with legal promises that the AI won't make costly mistakes. It is hard to copy because banks have locked-in contracts with Glia, the software is built deep into their systems, and Glia has special government approval (FedRAMP) that takes years to get. Other companies like Five9 or NICE could try to move into this space, and newer AI startups like Sierra or Cresta are already shipping competing products with fresher money. The one thing that could change everything is whether Glia can raise new funding soon, because it has not announced a funding round in over four years, and if the bigger competitors suddenly offer the same legal guarantees, Glia's main advantage disappears.

Why
01
AI pressure: AI-native vertical agents: Decagon, Sierra, Kasisto, Interface.ai, Posh. These rivals already ship bank-focused AI agents with fresher funding, chasing the same core-banking deals Glia depends on. Could AI do the core job? Only partly.
02
Bigger players: Five9, NICE, Genesys, Talkdesk. These horizontal contact-center giants are pushing into regulated banking but have not matched Glia's hallucination-liability guarantee yet. Could a giant copy it? Probably.
03
What protects it. Contractual AI-hallucination guarantees, FedRAMP readiness, and 1,000+ pre-built core-banking integrations lock in switching costs across 700+ claimed bank customers.
What would change this call
Glia announces a new funding round, recap, or M&A deal within 12 months. Shows whether capital structure is stable or under distress after 4-year funding gap.
A top-100 bank or major credit union switches from Glia to Sierra, Decagon, Kasisto, or Interface.ai. Confirms AI-native rivals are actively winning Glia's core regulated-bank customers.
Five9, NICE, Genesys, or Talkdesk launch a contractual AI-hallucination liability guarantee within 6 months. Would show Glia's compliance moat is being matched by larger horizontal competitors.

Questions people ask
Is Glia profitable in 2026?
Glia has not disclosed audited financials or a profitability claim. It has not confirmed a new funding round since its March 2022 Series D, even while launching five major AI products between March and July 2026, leaving its capital and profit status unverified.
Who owns Glia?
Glia is privately held and venture-backed, founded in 2012 by Dan Michaeli, Justin DiPietro and Carlos Paniagua. Its last confirmed investors are Insight Partners, Wildcat Capital Management and RingCentral Ventures from the March 2022 $45M Series D. No IPO has been filed as of late 2023.
Could AI replace Glia's product?
Glia sells the AI itself: its Glia Banker assistant, launched March 30, 2026, claims to automate up to 80% of banking interactions. Its defense against being commoditized by frontier models is a March 12, 2026 contractual guarantee against AI hallucinations, not the AI layer itself.
Who is Glia's biggest competitor?
Direct rivals in contact-center software for regulated banks include Five9, NICE, Genesys and Talkdesk, while AI-native entrants like Sierra, Decagon, Kasisto and Interface.ai are targeting the same banking and credit union niche with newer funding as of mid-2026.
What is Glia's valuation?
Glia became a unicorn after its $45M Series D in March 2022, pushing total funding to $152M and valuation above $1B, per the company's own March 21, 2022 announcement. No updated valuation has been confirmed publicly since.
Has Glia raised money recently?
No confirmed funding round has been reported since the March 2022 Series D. Tracking site TrueUp still lists that round as Glia's most recent as of mid-2026, a gap of more than four years despite heavy 2026 AI product launches.
