The call

YoYo enters public markets with shrinking ARPU, tiny downloads, and no disclosed edge against BIGO Live or frontier voice AI.

Hacker Interstellar lets people chat and stream using their local language through voice. The problem is that BIGO Live already has 350 million users doing almost the same thing, and Google and OpenAI are making it easier for anyone to build voice tools that work in any language, which was supposed to be Hacker Interstellar's special edge. The company's money per user is dropping fast, it has far fewer downloads than similar apps in the same countries, and most new sign-ups quit after one month, which suggests the product is not sticky enough to compete.

Why
01
AI pressure: OpenAI, Google, ElevenLabs, Meta (frontier voice AI models). Frontier voice AI models are commoditizing the vernacular voice tech YoYo calls its edge. Could AI do the core job? Yes, likely.
02
Bigger players: BIGO Live / JOYY Inc.. BIGO Live already runs the same voice social model at 350M+ MAU across YoYo's target regions. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. None apparent: no proprietary tech, no exclusive users, and no disclosed enterprise contracts protect it yet.
What would change this call
Hacker Interstellar's next two quarterly filings show ARPU still falling below $1.51. Confirms incumbents and churn keep eroding monetization post-IPO.
BIGO Live or Yalla Group announce expansion into YoYo's specific vernacular-language markets. Would show incumbents directly targeting YoYo's niche audience.
Filings show whether registered-user churn stays near 92% monthly. Indicates whether users are leaving for rival apps rather than staying engaged.

Questions people ask
Is Hacker Interstellar profitable?
No profit figures are disclosed. Renaissance Capital reports $96 million revenue for the 12 months ended Dec 31, 2025, while stockanalysis.com shows $89.03 million TTM revenue as of June 23, 2026, but ARPU fell from $2.20 to $1.51 between FY2024 and H1 2025, a warning sign flagged by Seeking Alpha on Feb 17, 2026.
Who is Hacker Interstellar's biggest competitor?
BIGO Live, owned by JOYY Inc., is the dominant incumbent with over 350 million global MAU as of Nov 2019 and continued expansion into MENA and LATAM through 2025-2026, versus Hacker Interstellar's YoYo app at just 4.7 million average MAU in H1 2025.
Has Hacker Interstellar's IPO priced yet?
As of July 8, 2026, TradingView and stockanalysis.com report the exact IPO date is still unknown, and Nasdaq's SOUD quote page showed no live bid or ask. The company set terms on May 12, 2026 for 2.8 million shares at $10.50 to $11.50, implying roughly $31-32 million raised.
Could AI replace Hacker Interstellar's core technology?
Hacker Interstellar frames proprietary vernacular voice AI models as its core moat, but frontier labs including OpenAI, Google, Meta and ElevenLabs already offer multilingual conversational voice generation as first-class products as of 2026, directly threatening to commoditize that differentiator.
How many users does the YoYo app have?
Per its F-1, YoYo reported 51.7 million registered users as of Dec 31, 2024, rising to 57.5 million by June 30, 2025 across 29 countries. But average monthly active users were far lower, only 4.7 million in H1 2025, indicating heavy user drop-off from registration.
Why is Hacker Interstellar's IPO considered risky?
Seeking Alpha (Feb 17, 2026) flagged declining revenue, ARPU, and user numbers as central risks. AInvest reported YoYo has amassed only about 500,000 downloads a year after launch versus rival Dailyhunt's 35 million-plus in a comparable regional market, a roughly 70x gap.
