Horangi Cyber Security
Singapore cloud security startup, now a folded-in Bitdefender product line.
Horangi no longer operates as an independent company; its Warden platform now survives as a line item inside Bitdefender's GravityZone suite.
Horangi was a cloud security company that Bitdefender bought in August 2023, so it is now just part of Bitdefender's product line called GravityZone CSPM+. The big problem is that Google, Microsoft, and Palo Alto Networks all offer similar cloud security tools that are either built into their existing products or are easier to use because they do not need special software installed on servers. Free tools like Prowler also do the same job at no cost. The only thing that could change this is if Bitdefender figures out how to make its cloud security products so much better or cheaper than the competition that customers choose it over what Google, Microsoft, or Palo Alto offer, but that seems unlikely given these huge rivals already have the trust of most companies.
Whether the 'Horangi' or 'Warden' brand name still appears in Bitdefender materials by 2027. Would show whether the acquired brand survives or is fully absorbed into GravityZone.
Bitdefender's Mesh Security deal closes and how CSPM+ staffing changes afterward. Would indicate if cloud security investment is consolidating elsewhere within Bitdefender.
- Bitdefender completed acquisition of Horangi
- Horangi raised $23.1M total before acquisition
- 121 employees at time of acquisition
- Horangi brand and product line dissolving fully into Bitdefender's GravityZone naming.
- Hyperscaler-native and Google-owned Wiz bundling equivalent CSPM/CIEM capability, shrinking addressable market.
- Free/low-cost tools like Prowler commoditizing basic cloud misconfiguration scanning.
- No independent revenue or headcount transparency since 2023 acquisition, limiting external accountability.
| Rival | Direction | Evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Wiz (Google) | losing to | Google closed $32B Wiz acquisition March 11, 2026, embedding leading agentless CNAPP into a hyperscaler |
| Microsoft Defender for Cloud | losing to | Extended posture management to serverless and AI agents at Ignite, November 18, 2025 |
| Palo Alto Networks (Cortex Cloud) | losing to | Folded Prisma Cloud into Cortex Cloud with AI-SPM, announced February 2025 |
| Prowler (free tool) | losing to | Cited in 2026 industry comparisons as commoditizing basic CSPM scanning |
- Is Horangi Cyber Security still an independent company?
- No. Bitdefender completed its acquisition of Horangi on August 16, 2023, making it a wholly owned subsidiary. Horangi now operates as 'Horangi, a Bitdefender company,' with its Warden platform folded into Bitdefender's GravityZone CSPM+ product as of October 20, 2025.
- Who owns Horangi Cyber Security now?
- Bitdefender, the Romania/California-based cybersecurity vendor, owns Horangi outright since completing its acquisition on August 16, 2023. Bitdefender itself is majority owned by co-founders Florin and Mariuca Talpes, with Vitruvian Partners holding a roughly 30% minority stake since 2017.
- Could AI replace Horangi's cloud security products?
- Much of Horangi's core CSPM and CIEM misconfiguration scanning is being automated by agentless AI platforms like Wiz's Security Graph and Microsoft Defender for Cloud's AI agents, plus free tools like Prowler, as reported through 2026. Its human-delivered pen-testing and vCISO services are less exposed.
- Who is Horangi's biggest competitor?
- Wiz, now owned by Google after a $32 billion acquisition completed March 11, 2026, is the leading agentless CNAPP rival; Microsoft Defender for Cloud and Palo Alto Networks' Cortex Cloud (formerly Prisma Cloud, folded in February 2025) also compete directly with the former Warden platform.
- Is Horangi Cyber Security profitable?
- No independent revenue or profitability figures have been disclosed since Bitdefender's August 16, 2023 acquisition; Bitdefender does not break out Horangi/Warden financials separately, so profitability as a standalone entity cannot be confirmed.
- What happened to Horangi's Warden product?
- Warden, Horangi's CSPM/CIEM/threat-detection platform, was integrated into Bitdefender's GravityZone platform and rebranded as 'GravityZone CSPM+' as confirmed by Bitdefender on October 20, 2025, though Bitdefender says Warden also still runs independently.
