The call

A smaller, hacked challenger in Worldcoin's category is now betting its survival on an untested enterprise AI pivot with no disclosed customers.

Humanity Protocol tries to verify that people are real humans using biometric scanning, similar to what Worldcoin does but with fewer users. The company is hard to defend because Worldcoin already has more customers and better funding, while Apple, Google, and Microsoft could add the same verification features to their own systems anytime they want. The one thing that could matter is whether the company can sign actual paying customers for its new enterprise AI business by early 2027, and whether law enforcement can recover anything from the June 2026 hack that stole the company's private encryption keys, a disaster that broke the core promise the company was trying to sell.

Why
01
AI pressure: Generative AI deepfake and synthetic-identity tools. AI-generated faces and biometric spoofs threaten to defeat palm-vein checks, undercutting the personhood promise it sells. Could AI do the core job? Yes, likely.
02
Bigger players: Worldcoin / World Network (Tools for Humanity, Sam Altman). Worldcoin already has 6M+ verified users on iris scanning versus Humanity's 800K to 2M, same category, better funded. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. Backing from Animoca, Polygon Labs, Pantera and Jump Crypto keeps capital flowing despite the hack and unproven revenue.
What would change this call
Whether Humanity Protocol discloses a named, paying enterprise AI customer with contract value by Q1 2027. Shows whether the enterprise AI pivot is real revenue or unproven messaging.
Outcome of the Hong Kong/US law enforcement investigation into the $36M June 2026 hack. Shows whether attribution and recovery restore or further damage trust in the platform.
Completion of token migration to the new audited ERC-20 contract and resumption of BNB Smart Chain bridge activity. Shows whether the security overhaul is finished and user funds/access are stabilized.

Questions people ask
Is Humanity Protocol profitable in 2026?
No audited revenue or profit figures have been disclosed. The company raised $30M at a $1B valuation in May 2024 and $20M at a $1.1B fully diluted valuation in January 2025, but as of July 2026 there is no public financial statement showing profitability.
Was Humanity Protocol hacked?
Yes. On June 8-9, 2026, attackers stole private keys via a malware-infected developer laptop, draining or minting roughly 447 million H tokens across Ethereum and BNB Smart Chain, worth about $36 million, crashing the token 85-90 percent per CoinDesk.
How does Humanity Protocol compare to Worldcoin?
Worldcoin (World Network) had over 6 million verified humans via its Orb hardware as of June 2026, while Humanity Protocol reported around 800,000 registered Human IDs in October 2025, with a later unverified single-source claim of 2 million by April 2026.
Who founded Humanity Protocol?
Terence Kwok founded Humanity Protocol in Hong Kong in September 2023, publicly emerging from stealth on February 20, 2024, in collaboration with Animoca Brands and Polygon Labs. Kwok previously founded hospitality-tech firm Tink Labs, which entered liquidation around 2020.
Could AI or Big Tech replace Humanity Protocol?
There is no structural barrier stopping Worldcoin, Apple, Google, or Microsoft from adding palm-vein or biometric personhood verification to existing SSO or device platforms, since Humanity Protocol's core method is a sensor and ZK-proof choice, not a proprietary technology moat.
What is Humanity Protocol's enterprise AI pivot?
Founder Terence Kwok announced on July 2, 2026 a strategic shift toward selling identity verification as anti-fraud infrastructure for AI platforms, following the June 2026 hack. As of July 2026 the products are described as still in testing with no disclosed paying enterprise customers.
