SDK that streams live production runtime data into AI coding agents via MCP.

Losing its protection

The call

A small new SDK entering a category where a better-funded rival already ships the same feature and the platform layer above both could absorb it.

HyperProbe makes software that lets AI coding assistants see what a live application is doing while it runs, using a standard connector called MCP. The problem is that Lightrun already built almost the exact same thing seven years ago and convinced 110 million dollars worth of investors it was a good idea, while Anthropic, OpenAI, and Cursor (the companies that make the AI assistants themselves) can simply build this feature directly into their products and make HyperProbe unnecessary. The one thing that could save HyperProbe is if it finds a specific type of customer where the need is so urgent that they pay before the big tech companies bake the feature in, such as highly regulated financial or healthcare companies with unusual technical requirements.

Why
01
AI pressure: Anthropic, OpenAI, and Cursor's own agent tooling. If these platforms add native runtime introspection to their agents, HyperProbe's SDK layer becomes optional. Could AI do the core job? Yes, likely.
02
Bigger players: Lightrun. Lightrun already ships MCP-integrated production debugging with seven years of customers and over $110M raised. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. A working SDK live today with early design-partner testimonials, though no proven retention or vertical lock-in yet.
What would change this call
Anthropic, OpenAI, or Cursor announce native runtime-introspection features in their agent tooling. Would show the MCP platform layer absorbing HyperProbe's core function.
Lightrun publishes new MCP or AI-SRE integration releases and enterprise adoption numbers. Would show the incumbent locking in the feature HyperProbe also offers.
HyperProbe discloses named paying customers with 90+ day retention beyond current testimonials. Would show real traction rather than marketing-only claims.
Key numbers
  • Lightrun raised $110M+ since 2019 (2026)
  • HyperProbe team is 1-10 people (2026-07-19)
  • YC S26 standard deal is $500K (2026-07-19)
Named risks
  • Lightrun already ships an identical MCP-based AI debugging feature with 7 years maturity and heavier funding. Severity: high
  • Anthropic, OpenAI or Cursor could natively absorb runtime-introspection into their agent platforms via MCP ownership. Severity: high
  • No independent funding disclosed beyond YC S26 investment as of 2026-07-19. Severity: medium
  • Pricing model and commercial path to revenue undisclosed as of 2026. Severity: medium
  • Unclear corporate structure between HyperProbe and parent HyperTest could complicate ownership clarity. Severity: low

Questions people ask
Is HyperProbe profitable in 2026?
No. HyperProbe is a pre-seed YC Summer 2026 batch company with no disclosed revenue. Its product, a runtime-data SDK for AI coding agents, launched around June 2026 and has only vendor-authored testimonials, not confirmed paying customers or revenue figures.
Who owns HyperProbe?
HyperProbe was built by the team behind HyperTest, a Gurugram-based API-testing startup founded 2021/2022 by Shailendra Singh and Karan Raina. HyperProbe is described as HyperTest's pivot/spinout product entering Y Combinator's Summer 2026 batch.
Could AI replace HyperProbe's product?
Possibly. HyperProbe's whole value sits inside the Model Context Protocol layer controlled by Anthropic, OpenAI and Cursor. If those platforms ship native runtime-introspection tools, as industry roadmaps in 2026 suggest, HyperProbe's SDK layer could be absorbed and become redundant.
Who is HyperProbe's biggest competitor?
Lightrun, founded 2019 with $110M+ raised (vendor-claimed), is HyperProbe's closest rival: it already ships an MCP-integrated 'AI SRE' feature as of 2026, matching HyperProbe's core pitch with seven more years of enterprise maturity.
Does HyperProbe have real paying customers?
Not confirmed. HyperProbe's site features testimonials from named individuals citing root-cause-analysis time dropping from 3 to 4 hours to about 9 minutes, but these are vendor-authored marketing claims with no independent verification as of 2026.
What does HyperProbe's product actually do?
HyperProbe is an SDK that attaches to live Java, Node.js and TypeScript services via bytecode rewriting and V8 Inspector hooks, capturing runtime state and exposing it to AI coding agents like Cursor and Claude Code through the Model Context Protocol, per its docs dated 2026-06-28.
