The call

JumpCloud has real distribution among MSPs and cross-OS shops, but it is running five years on old money while Microsoft's bundle and Rippling's spread both push in from the edges.

JumpCloud makes software that lets companies control who can log into computers, phones, and servers, no matter if they run Windows, Mac, or Linux. It sells mostly through technology partners who resell it to their customers. Microsoft is a huge threat because it bundles similar login software free with its Microsoft 365 package, while Rippling is building a competitor from the HR side and Okta is dropping prices to win smaller deals. The one thing that matters most is whether companies and their partners trust JumpCloud after a 2023 security breach, since for a login system, trust is everything.

Why
01
AI pressure: None apparent. AI agents need governing, not replacing this, so JumpCloud sells Agentic IAM to manage them rather than losing to them. Could AI do the core job? Unlikely.
02
Bigger players: Microsoft (Entra ID and Intune bundled into M365). Microsoft bundles identity into M365 subscriptions many SMBs already pay for, undercutting the case for a standalone tool. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. 1,200+ MSP partners and cross-OS support for Mac and Linux that Microsoft's bundle still handles poorly.
What would change this call
JumpCloud raises a new priced round or discloses valuation above/below the 2021 $2.56B mark. Would show whether investors see growth as accelerating or stalling since 2021.
Microsoft ships a cross-OS Mac/Linux device management bundle inside M365/Intune in 2026. Would close the gap that JumpCloud relies on for its cross-platform SMB niche.
JumpCloud discloses a second security breach or incident beyond the 2023 North Korea attack. Would undermine trust, the core asset for an identity provider.
Key numbers
  • ~$200M-210M estimated ARR (2026-07)
  • No priced round since $2.56B in Oct 2021 (2026-07)
  • ~5,000 paying customers, 1,200+ MSP partners (2023-01)
Named risks
  • Second identity-provider breach after 2023 North Korean state actor incident still cited in 2026 threat reports. Severity: high
  • No new priced funding round since October 2021 despite claimed triple-digit growth, valuation opacity. Severity: medium
  • Retention pressure at 1,000-2,000 seat tier as Okta and Rippling target customers who 'outgrow' JumpCloud. Severity: medium
  • Microsoft closing cross-OS Mac/Linux gap in Entra ID/Intune bundle would erode core differentiation. Severity: medium

Questions people ask
Is JumpCloud profitable in 2026?
JumpCloud does not publicly disclose profitability figures since it is privately held. Its last priced funding round was a $159M Series F (plus $66M add-on) in September to October 2021 at a $2.56 billion valuation, and no newer priced round has been reported as of mid-2026.
Who owns JumpCloud?
JumpCloud is privately held and venture-backed, not publicly traded, with no active stock ticker as of July 2026. CEO and co-founder Rajat Bhargava remains at the helm. Its last valuation was $2.56 billion, set in a Series F round closed around October 2021.
Who is JumpCloud's biggest competitor?
Microsoft's Entra ID and Intune, bundled free into Microsoft 365 licensing, pose the largest structural threat since Microsoft has no P&L conflict blocking a cross-OS bundle. Okta and Rippling also actively run head-to-head comparison content targeting JumpCloud's mid-market customers as of 2025-2026.
Could AI replace JumpCloud?
Unlikely in the near term. JumpCloud launched 'Agentic IAM' on April 27, 2026, to govern AI-agent and non-human identities, turning AI-agent proliferation into new seat demand rather than a replacement threat, per the company's own product announcement.
Has JumpCloud had a security breach?
Yes. JumpCloud suffered a breach in 2023 attributed to North Korean state-sponsored actors, and it continued to be cited in third-party cloud-identity threat briefings as recently as 2026, a notable risk for an identity provider whose core product is trust.
How much funding has JumpCloud raised and at what valuation?
JumpCloud's last disclosed priced round was a $159 million Series F with a subsequent $66 million add-on, closed around September to October 2021, valuing the company at $2.56 billion, led by Sapphire Ventures with BlackRock and CrowdStrike Falcon Fund participation.
