The call

Krea grew fast on its own model and users, but Google, OpenAI, and Adobe now ship the same category of product it sells.

Krea AI lets users create images and videos using AI, and it has grown quickly to 30 million users and 8 million dollars in yearly revenue. The problem is that Google, OpenAI, and Adobe are all building the exact same thing right now, and they have way more money and engineers. Since the tools do similar work and the companies making them do not need to make much profit per user, Krea cannot outspend or out-wait them. The one thing that matters most is whether Krea's own AI model stays better than the big companies' models, and whether it can turn regular users into paying businesses that depend on it.

Why
01
AI pressure: Google Nano Banana 2 and OpenAI Sora/GPT Image. Google and OpenAI now ship models Krea directly compares itself against, closing the quality gap Krea relied on. Could AI do the core job? Only partly.
02
Bigger players: Google, OpenAI, Adobe. All three already sell competing image and video generation tools and can absorb losses Krea cannot. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. 30 million organic users, enterprise logos like Pixar and LEGO, and its own Krea 2 model plus API partnerships with Fal, Comfy, and Runware.
What would change this call
Krea 2 falls out of top-10 on Artificial Analysis text-to-image leaderboard. Would show its foundation model is losing ground to Google/OpenAI releases.
Whether Krea announces a Series C round by Q4 2026. Absence would suggest burn concerns given thin ARR-per-user and high inference costs.
Whether Pixar, LEGO, or Samsung disclose seven-figure annual contracts with Krea. Would show enterprise logos are converting to durable, high-value revenue rather than pilots.
Key numbers
  • $8M ARR, up 20x in 14 months (2025-04-07)
  • 30M+ users across 191 countries (2026-06-28)
  • Krea 2 ranks top-10 on image leaderboard (2026-06-24)
Named risks
  • No structural barrier stops Google, OpenAI, or Adobe from replicating Krea's aggregator product. Severity: high
  • Thin unit economics, roughly $0.27 ARR per user, against margin-indifferent incumbents. Severity: high
  • No new funding round reported since April 2025 Series B despite rapid headcount growth. Severity: medium
  • Broader AI copyright litigation wave against image generators could eventually implicate Krea's training data. Severity: medium
  • Krea 2 only reaches top-10 leaderboard rank, not frontier-leading, risking commoditization if a single model dominates. Severity: medium

Questions people ask
Is Krea AI profitable?
No profitability figures are disclosed. Krea reported about $8M ARR as of April 2025, a 20x increase in 14 months achieved with no paid user acquisition, per its own statements, but no net income or profitability data has been published.
Who owns Krea AI?
Krea is privately held and venture-backed, founded by Victor Perez and Diego Rodriguez in March 2022. It has no parent company. Investors include Andreessen Horowitz, Bain Capital Ventures, and Abstract Ventures, with its Series B closing April 7, 2025 at a $500M post-money valuation.
Could Google or OpenAI replace Krea AI?
Yes, this is a live risk. Google's Nano Banana 2 and OpenAI's GPT Image 2 were both directly benchmarked against Krea's own Krea 2 model in May 2026 blog posts, and both incumbents ship competing image and video generation with no structural barrier stopping them from building Krea's exact aggregator interface.
Who is Krea AI's biggest competitor?
Krea directly benchmarks itself against Midjourney in its own May 15, 2026 blog post, positioning its integrated image, video, and 3D suite against Midjourney's image-only focus. Google (Nano Banana 2), OpenAI (GPT Image 2), and Adobe Firefly are also named as adjacent frontier-lab threats.
How many users does Krea AI have?
Krea's own site states over 30 million users from 191 countries as of mid-2026, up from over 20 million users reported by Andreessen Horowitz on April 7, 2025, when the company also disclosed roughly $8M in annual recurring revenue.
Has Krea AI raised new funding recently?
Krea's most recent disclosed round was a $47M Series B announced April 7, 2025, led by Bain Capital Ventures, bringing total funding to $83M at a $500M post-money valuation. No new round has been publicly reported as of this brief's writing.
