The call

LogicMonitor is growing fast and expanding its AI product, but it still sits below three bigger, better ranked rivals with no unique technical barrier separating them.

LogicMonitor sells software that watches how computer systems perform, especially for companies running older on-site setups or managing systems for other businesses. The three bigger competitors (Datadog, Dynatrace, New Relic) have all built similar watching tools and could easily move into LogicMonitor's smaller customer groups, so LogicMonitor's protection comes only from customers being used to its system and staying loyal, not from having something nobody else can build. The biggest question is whether LogicMonitor can close the gap in features and performance against those three rivals in the next year or two, and whether its new AI-powered assistant (which borrows technology from OpenAI) can stay profitable as the cost of running that AI increases.

Why
01
AI pressure: Datadog, Dynatrace, New Relic AI agents (all built on similar frontier models). Rivals ship their own AI agents on the same underlying models, so LogicMonitor's Edwin AI doesn't get a unique AI edge, just parity. Could AI do the core job? Unlikely.
02
Bigger players: Datadog, Dynatrace, New Relic. All three are ranked Leaders above LogicMonitor's Visionary spot in Gartner's Magic Quadrant and can chase its hybrid, on-prem, and MSP customers. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. Deep telemetry data and integrations already wired into customer systems make switching costly, even without a unique technology block.
What would change this call
Gartner's next Magic Quadrant places LogicMonitor as Leader vs staying Visionary. Shows whether LogicMonitor is closing the gap with Datadog, Dynatrace, New Relic or remains behind.
Catchpoint integration ships as a distinct differentiated feature set by end of 2026. Shows whether the $250M acquisition adds real capability or sits unintegrated.
Edwin AI's share of bookings and its YoY growth rate in future earnings updates. Shows whether AI-driven growth is sustaining or flattening.

Questions people ask
Is LogicMonitor profitable in 2026?
LogicMonitor does not disclose profitability as a private company. It reported surpassing $400M in ARR by May 28, 2026, with Edwin AI contributing about a third of bookings, but no net income or profit figures have been published.
Who owns LogicMonitor?
Vista Equity Partners has held a controlling stake in LogicMonitor since acquiring majority ownership in 2018. On November 20, 2024, LogicMonitor closed an $800M investment from PSG and Golub Capital at a $2.4B valuation, with Vista remaining the controlling shareholder.
Could AI replace LogicMonitor?
Unlikely soon. LogicMonitor's own Edwin AI, launched June 2024 and integrated with OpenAI reasoning models since January 2025, is itself the AI layer; its moat is proprietary telemetry (claimed 800B metrics/day) and integrations, not something a standalone model easily replicates.
Who is LogicMonitor's biggest competitor?
Datadog, Dynatrace, and New Relic, all ranked Gartner Magic Quadrant Leaders for observability in July 2025, while LogicMonitor sits as a Visionary. Dynatrace posted the highest Ability to Execute score for the 15th consecutive year as of July 10, 2025.
How much funding has LogicMonitor raised?
LogicMonitor closed an $800M investment from PSG and Golub Capital on November 20, 2024 at roughly a $2.4B valuation including debt. Cumulative funding across about six rounds since 2016 is estimated at $942M to $952M, per TechCrunch's November 20, 2024 reporting.
Did LogicMonitor acquire Catchpoint?
Yes. LogicMonitor completed a cash acquisition of Catchpoint, a digital experience and internet performance monitoring vendor, for over $250M, closing December 2, 2025. Gartner's First Take warned success depends on genuine technical integration, not just messaging.
