The call

North American sales keep shrinking while Alo Yoga and Vuori pull ahead in mindshare, leaving the turnaround riding on a brand new CEO.

Lululemon makes expensive athletic wear and runs a membership program with millions of customers and hundreds of stores. The company built its reputation on quality fabrics and a loyal brand following, but competitors like Alo Yoga have copied the formula and are now stealing customers in the yoga and pilates market. Alo has overtaken Lululemon in how many people prefer it, and Nike just launched a competing line with Kim Kardashian's brand. The company still makes money and is growing in China, but its home market in North America is shrinking. Whether Lululemon can stop losing ground depends on what happens in the next two quarters: if the bleeding slows and Alo stops gaining share, the brand may recover; if the home market keeps declining and competitors keep climbing, the damage could be permanent.

Why
01
AI pressure: None apparent. AI speeds up internal design and personalization work, it is not an outside threat eating their business. Could AI do the core job? Only partly.
02
Bigger players: Nike (NikeSKIMS). Nike's NikeSKIMS line, launched Sept 2025, goes after the same shopper lululemon built its name on. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. Fabric technology, a 30 million member ecosystem, and fast China growth still pull people back into stores and the app.
