The call

CNS and oncology growth is outrunning cardiovascular decline for now, while biosimilar competition and a Boan Biotech restructuring reshape what investors actually hold.

Luye Pharma makes specialty medicines in China, using technology to deliver drugs slowly through the body so patients need fewer shots. It is hard to copy because the company has FDA and European approval for its manufacturing and has built relationships with Chinese hospitals, but three things make this risky: other companies are selling cheaper versions of similar drugs, Luye's old heart medicines are selling much less than before, and new artificial intelligence tools at rival companies may discover new drugs faster than Luye can. The key question is whether Luye's newer medicines, especially brain and cancer drugs, can grow fast enough to replace the sales it is losing from older products, and whether a planned breakup of one of its business units will hurt the value of your investment.

Why
01
AI pressure: Insilico Medicine and AstraZeneca's AI-driven discovery platforms. AI-accelerated target discovery could let rivals move faster on new compounds, but no AI tool yet directly displaces Luye's manufacturing or filings. Could AI do the core job? Unlikely.
02
Bigger players: J&J (Invega Sustenna/Trinza) and six FDA-approved denosumab biosimilar rivals. Competing long-acting antipsychotics and a crowded biosimilar field for denosumab are already live and pricing pressure is building. Could a giant copy it? Probably.
03
What protects it. Proprietary microsphere and liposome delivery platforms plus FDA/EMA/NMPA manufacturing approval and entrenched China hospital distribution.

Questions people ask
Is Luye Pharma Group profitable?
Yes. Luye Pharma reported FY2025 net profit of RMB 705.7 million, up 9.4% year over year, on revenue of RMB 6,308.4 million and a 66.0% gross margin, per its annual results filed 2026-03-30 on HKEX.
Did Luye Pharma pay a dividend in 2025?
No. Despite FY2025 net profit rising 9.4% to RMB 705.7 million, Luye Pharma declared no dividend for the year, according to a 2026-03-30 announcement, a decision flagged as notable given the profit growth.
Who owns Luye Pharma Group?
Luye Pharma is HKEX-listed (02186); founder Liu Dian Bo, through Luye Investment Group, is cited as controlling shareholder at roughly 35% of shares as of early 2025 per an analysis source, with no parent company.
Could AI replace Luye Pharma's drug development?
Unlikely to fully replace it. Luye's moat is proprietary long-acting delivery formulations (microspheres, liposomes, patches), multi-country GMP approvals, and China hospital distribution, physical and regulatory assets AI does not directly displace as of 2026.
Is Luye Pharma's cardiovascular business struggling?
Yes. Luye's cardiovascular system products revenue declined about 30.6% year over year in FY2025 (year ended 2025-12-31), even as CNS revenue grew 25.7% and oncology grew 10.2% in the same period.
What is Luye Pharma's biggest competitive threat in biosimilars?
Crowded denosumab biosimilar competition: six rivals, including Biocon, Hikma, Sandoz, Organon/Henlius, Celltrion, and Samsung Bioepis, received FDA approvals between March 2024 and March 2026, per drugs.com data dated 2026-04-20.
