The call

Moka has raised no new disclosed capital since 2021 and is repositioning as an AI recruiting agent just as Beisen and native AI copilots crowd into the same tasks.

Moka makes software to help companies hire faster, screening resumes and scheduling interviews. The problem is twofold: Beisen, a much larger Chinese competitor that is publicly traded and has raised over $421 million, already dominates the same market in Asia, offering the same features Moka does. Worse, big AI tools like ChatGPT and others built into Slack and Workday now do Moka's core work (reading resumes, matching candidates, writing interview notes) automatically and cheaply, so Moka's own AI assistant looks like a copy of something free. The company has not raised money since late 2021, its team size has barely grown, and its revenue claims are unverified; the one thing that would change the picture is if Moka lands a new investor and proves real revenue growth, or if it finds customers who need much more than what general AI tools offer.

Why
01
AI pressure: Copilot, Lark, and Workday native AI agents (plus Eightfold, Paradox, Gem). These agents already screen resumes, summarize interviews, and schedule candidates natively, turning Moka Eva into a thinner wrapper around the same tasks. Could AI do the core job? Yes, likely.
02
Bigger players: Beisen (HKEX: 9669). Publicly listed and roughly three times Moka's total funding, Beisen sells the same HCM and ATS features across the same Chinese enterprise accounts. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. Existing payroll and Lark/WeChat integrations, plus named logos like Tesla and SHEIN, make ripping Moka out mid-cycle inconvenient for current customers.
What would change this call
Moka announces a new equity round with disclosed valuation within 12 months. Would show investors still believe in the business after the 2021 funding gap.
Independently reported Q3/Q4 2026 revenue or ARR figures for Moka. Would confirm or contradict the <$5M aggregator estimate versus 3,000+ customer claim.
Headcount changes reported by Crustdata or similar trackers through 2026 Q4. Flat or declining headcount would confirm stalled growth after the APAC rebrand.

Questions people ask
Is Moka (MokaHR) profitable in 2026?
Moka has not disclosed revenue or profit publicly. Its last confirmed capital raise was a $100M Series C led by Tiger Global on 2021-11-03, and headcount stood at only 118 employees as of June 2026 per Crustdata tracking, suggesting limited scale growth since then.
Who owns Moka / MokaHR?
Moka is a private, venture-backed company legally named Beijing Sirius Technology Co., Ltd., founded in 2015 in Haidian District, Beijing. CEO is Li Guoxing, a Shanghai Jiao Tong/Michigan/Stanford-trained engineer and ex-Facebook/SignalFx employee, as reported by 36Kr on 2026-05-23.
Has Moka raised new funding recently?
No. Moka's most recent confirmed funding round was a $100M Series C led by Tiger Global Management, announced 2021-11-03. No further named equity round has been confirmed since, despite continued product launches and an international rebrand through June 2026.
Could AI replace Moka's product?
Moka's own 'Moka Eva' agent (launched June 2023, expanded May and June 2026) performs resume screening, scheduling, and summarization, the same tasks horizontal AI agents from Workday, Copilot, and Eightfold now do natively, making Moka's wrapper approach vulnerable to commoditization.
Who is Moka's biggest competitor?
Beisen (北森, HKEX: 9669) is Moka's biggest domestic rival, a publicly listed HCM/ATS provider dominating China's market with far greater capital resources than Moka's roughly $127M in press-confirmed funding raised through its 2021 Series C.
Did Moka shut down or dissolve in 2025?
A claim that Moka 'dissolved in 2025' after raising $200M circulated on one aggregator site (2026-01-21), but it conflicts with verified 2026 activity including a May 2026 AI agent launch and a June 24, 2026 PR Newswire release rebranding the company as Moka AI.
