The call

NHN Cloud has a government-protected lane and a growing GPU business, but domestic rivals are already beating it for the contracts inside that lane.

NHN Cloud provides cloud computing and graphics processor services to South Korea, with special government approval that keeps foreign companies like Amazon and Microsoft out. The problem is that other Korean companies like KT Cloud and Samsung SDS have the same government approval, and they are winning more government contracts than NHN Cloud is. The company lost money in 2025 and has only made profit in one quarter, so it is not yet a stable business. The biggest question is whether NHN Cloud can actually become profitable and grow its artificial intelligence business faster than its Korean competitors do.

Why
01
AI pressure: None apparent. AI demand is feeding NHN Cloud through GPU cluster rentals, not eating its business, at least for now. Could AI do the core job? Unlikely.
02
Bigger players: KT Cloud, Samsung SDS, Naver Cloud. KT Cloud beat NHN Cloud on the July 2026 Korea Post contract, and Samsung SDS passed Microsoft for Korea's number two spot. Could a giant copy it? Probably.
03
What protects it. CSAP government certification keeps AWS and other foreign clouds mostly locked out of Korean public-sector contracts.

Questions people ask
Is NHN Cloud profitable in 2025?
Not for the full year. NHN Cloud posted about 220 billion won in FY2025 revenue but an operating loss of roughly 20 billion won, per CFO commentary reported May 11, 2026. It did notch its first-ever quarterly operating profit in Q4 2025, with revenue up 30.7% YoY that quarter, reported February 12, 2026.
Who owns NHN Cloud?
NHN Cloud is a private subsidiary of publicly traded NHN Corporation (KRX: 181710). It was spun out as a separate legal entity from NHN Corp's cloud division on April 1, 2022. As of July 2026 there is no confirmed independent IPO or spin-off listing for NHN Cloud itself.
Who is NHN Cloud's biggest competitor?
Domestically, NHN Cloud trails Naver Cloud, Samsung SDS, and KT Cloud in Korea's cloud market. Samsung SDS overtook Microsoft to become Korea's #2 public cloud provider per 2024 IDC data, and KT Cloud beat NHN Cloud for the Korea Post cloud PC (DaaS) contract, awarded July 8, 2026.
Could AI replace NHN Cloud?
No, NHN Cloud is a physical GPU and data center operator whose business grows with AI demand rather than being displaced by it. It runs Nvidia B200 and B300 GPU clusters and launched its FactoryX AI infrastructure brand in May 2026, aiming to lift AI's share of revenue from 13% in 2025 to 38% in 2026.
Will NHN Cloud go public with its own IPO?
As of July 12, 2026, no credible reporting confirms an independent IPO or spin-off listing for NHN Cloud; it remains a subsidiary of parent NHN Corporation (KRX: 181710), which trades publicly, while NHN Cloud itself does not.
What is NHN Cloud's FactoryX?
FactoryX is NHN Cloud's AI full-stack brand, launched May to July 2026, combining GPU infrastructure, platform tools, and an agentic execution layer. It includes a 7,656-GPU B200 'Factory X Seoul' cluster delivering 27.4 exaflops, described as Korea's first exascale AI cluster.
