The call

Omni has real revenue growth and sticky customer data, but the exact category it claims is now being built by OpenAI, Google, Snowflake, and Databricks at once.

Omni builds a layer that sits between a company's databases and AI agents, letting those agents answer business questions by understanding what the data means. The company is growing fast and has real customers who've built custom setups that would be annoying to move elsewhere. But Google (which owns Looker, a tool Omni's founders created) is now adding AI agents to Looker, OpenAI just shipped a competing product in February 2026 designed for the exact same job, and Snowflake and Databricks are building similar tools into their own platforms. The real test: whether Omni's locked-in customers stay because moving would be too painful, or whether they leave for easier, bigger rivals that offer the same thing bundled with tools they already use.

Why
01
AI pressure: OpenAI Frontier. Frontier ships as a semantic layer AI coworkers can query enterprise-wide, mirroring Omni's own pitch to customers. Could AI do the core job? Yes, likely.
02
Bigger players: Google Looker with Gemini agents, plus Snowflake and Databricks native semantic layers. Omni's founders built Looker; Google now bundles Gemini agents into it while Snowflake and Databricks add their own semantic layers. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. Customer-specific semantic models, dbt integration, row-level security, and Explo's embedded distribution create real switching costs once built.
What would change this call
Whether Omni's Explo customers stay through the 12-month migration window ending ~Oct 2026. High churn would show the semantic-model moat is weaker than claimed.
Whether Omni reports ARR doubling again by end of 2026 as targeted. Hitting the target signals the moat holds against Frontier and platform-native rivals.
Whether OpenAI Frontier or Snowflake/Databricks semantic layers announce major enterprise customer wins in 2026. Would show Omni's category is being absorbed by bigger platforms.
Key numbers
  • $120M Series C at $1.5B valuation (2026-04-23)
  • ~$30M ARR end of 2025, 4x YoY growth (2025-10-22)
  • Revenue tripled year to date by April 2026 (2026-04-23)
Named risks
  • Explo customer migration during 12-month transition from Oct 2025 could cause churn. Severity: medium
  • OpenAI, Google, Snowflake and Databricks simultaneously shipping competing semantic layers. Severity: high
  • Reported Fabi.ai acquisition (May 2026) unconfirmed by press release, adds integration uncertainty. Severity: low
  • Rapid fundraising pace and employee tender offers may signal pressure to show growth. Severity: low

Questions people ask
Is Omni profitable in 2026?
Omni has not disclosed profitability. It reported roughly $30M ARR by end of 2025 with 4x year-over-year growth, and said revenue had tripled year-to-date by its April 2026 Series C, targeting a doubling of ARR again in 2026, per its own press releases.
Could AI replace Omni's product?
Omni frames AI as a tailwind, not a threat, since its governed semantic layer underpins AI agent queries. But OpenAI's Frontier, launched February 2026, is explicitly built as an enterprise semantic layer for AI coworkers, directly overlapping Omni's category.
Who is Omni's biggest competitor?
Omni's biggest competitive pressure comes from Google's Looker (its founders' former company, now shipping Gemini-powered BI Agents), plus OpenAI's Frontier (Feb 2026) and native semantic layers from Snowflake and Databricks, both of which are also Omni investors.
Who owns Omni?
Omni Analytics Inc. is privately held and venture-backed. Its April 2026 Series C, at a $1.5B valuation, was led by ICONIQ, with prior investors including First Round Capital, Redpoint Ventures, GV, Snowflake Ventures, and Databricks Ventures.
How much funding has Omni raised total?
Omni has raised roughly $216M to $236M across four rounds as of June 2026: a $9.4M seed in April 2022, $17.5M Series A in August 2022, $69M Series B in March 2025 at a $650M valuation, and a $120M Series C in April 2026 at a $1.5B valuation.
Did Omni make any acquisitions?
Yes. Omni acquired embedded-analytics company Explo in October 2025, migrating its customers over a 12-month transition, and a third-party comparison source reports it also acquired Fabi.ai in May 2026, though that acquisition is not independently confirmed by a press release.
