The call

Parrot is three weeks into a pivot with two small contracts, competing against a newly funded parts-data specialist, a live damage-assessment tool, and the incumbents that already own shop and insurer relationships.

Parrot makes software that helps collision repair shops handle insurance claims and estimates using AI. The problem is that large companies like CCC ONE and Mitchell 1 already own the main systems that shops use every day, plus they have years of insurance claim data that is hard to replace. Parrot's only real advantage is handling insurance negotiations, but a company called Rote is already going after that same space. The one thing that could change everything is if a new AI company called Partly builds better technology than everyone else and shops start switching to it, but Parrot would have to prove it can actually keep its customers and grow fast enough to matter before that happens.

Why
01
AI pressure: Partly's foundation model and Rote (YC W27). Partly's parts model and Rote's insurance-agent tool target the same shop workflows Parrot wants to own. Could AI do the core job? Yes, likely.
02
Bigger players: CCC ONE, Mitchell 1, Audatex. These systems already hold shop and insurer data, so they can bolt on agent features without giving up their record-keeping role. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. Nothing proven yet: two shops on three-week-old contracts, no owned data, no exclusive insurer or manufacturer ties.
What would change this call
Partly launches its US foundation model product and signs auto shops or insurers by early 2027. Shows Partly becoming the default AI layer in the vertical Parrot targets.
Rote announces paying shop customers or insurer partnerships within the next two quarters. Shows a funded rival locking down the same insurance negotiation wedge Parrot needs.
CCC ONE or Audatex publicly ship an agentic insurance supplement module. Shows incumbents defending their claims data moat against new entrants like Parrot.

Questions people ask
Is Parrot profitable in 2026?
No. Parrot is a pre-revenue, early-stage YC startup that pivoted into auto collision repair only three weeks before its June 1, 2026 YC launch, with just two signed shop customers at $30K annual contract value each, per its own launch post.
Who is Parrot's biggest competitor?
Parrot faces entrenched incumbents CCC ONE, Mitchell 1, and Audatex, plus well-funded rivals Partly ($50M Series B, $500M valuation, June 2026 US expansion) and YC W27 startup Rote, which targets the same insurance-negotiation niche Parrot claims.
Could AI replace auto repair shop staff using Parrot?
Parrot's own pitch automates front-office tasks like supplier calls, estimate auditing, and insurance follow-ups traditionally done by service writers, per its July 2026 product site, though only two customers and no independent outcome data confirm real-world impact yet.
Who owns Parrot the auto repair startup?
Parrot is a private, YC-backed (Spring 2026 batch, per third-party tracker apis.io, July 2026) startup co-founded by CEO Phillip Baek and CTO Liam, a UIUC computer engineering graduate; no external funding round beyond standard YC terms is confirmed.
How much funding has Parrot raised?
No independently confirmed funding figure exists for Parrot as of July 2026; standard YC deal terms would apply if this is its only funding, but company-specific confirmation was not found in available sources.
What does Parrot's product actually do for auto shops?
Per Parrot's July 2026 website, it offers an AI-powered CRM, estimate auditing, agentic parts procurement via voice-AI supplier calls, insurance-claim follow-ups, tax filing, payroll, payments, and call handling, integrated with CCC ONE, Audatex, and Mitchell 1.
