PensionBee
UK online service that finds and combines your old pensions into one plan.
PensionBee keeps growing and keeps its customers, but thin margins and a 2026 industry dashboard deadline will test whether that growth stays cheap.
PensionBee helps UK workers bring their old pensions into one place and manage them online. It is hard to replace because it holds the actual money (FCA-regulated) and keeps customers sticky with 96% staying year-to-year, but the money it makes per customer is tiny (0.65% of assets), and it is currently losing money before taxes. In October 2026, the UK Pension Dashboard launches, which will let people see all their pensions in one view for free, and Nutmeg (backed by JPMorgan) is already offering the same service with much deeper pockets. If the Dashboard kills customer discovery overnight, PensionBee's path to profitability gets much harder.
PensionBee FY2026 results (expected March 2027) report on US revenue contribution. Shows whether US expansion is becoming material or stays negligible.
Nutmeg (JPMorgan) announces UK pension-consolidation pricing or distribution moves. Would indicate a well-funded rival directly targeting PensionBee's core market.
- Revenue £42.6m, up 28% YoY
- AUA £7.4bn, up 27% YoY
- Pre-tax loss £2.8m despite EBITDA profit
- UK Pension Dashboard (31 Oct 2026) could commoditize pension-finding and raise acquisition cost.
- Company remains pretax loss-making despite EBITDA profitability, £(2.8)m FY2025.
- US operations still in foundational phase with minimal revenue as of March 2026.
- FCA Value for Money Framework and SIPP due-diligence reforms could raise compliance costs.
- Thin revenue margin of 0.65% of AUA leaves little buffer against cost or fee pressure.
| Rival | Direction | Evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Nutmeg (JPMorgan Personal Investing) | contesting | JPMorgan-owned since 2021, well-funded direct rival in UK robo-pension space as of 2026 |
| Penfold | contesting | Self-employed-focused pension consolidator competing directly, cited in 2025-07 review |
| Legal & General, Aviva, Hargreaves Lansdown | losing to | Incumbent giants dwarf PensionBee in AUM/scale per comparison sources, 2026 |
| UK Pension Dashboard (government) | gaining on | Final provider connection deadline 31 Oct 2026 threatens PensionBee's discovery funnel |
- Is PensionBee profitable?
- Not on a pretax basis: PensionBee posted a Profit/(Loss) Before Tax of £(2.8)m for FY2025 (year ended 31 Dec 2025). However, it delivered its second consecutive year of Adjusted EBITDA profitability, per results announced 2026-03-11, with cash of £32.6m at year end.
- Who owns PensionBee?
- PensionBee Group plc is publicly listed on the London Stock Exchange under ticker PBEE, having IPO'd 21 April 2021 at 165p/share. Founder and CEO Romi Savova remains the largest shareholder, holding a 31.96% stake (76,141,724 voting rights) as of 20 July 2026.
- Could AI replace PensionBee?
- Unlikely soon: PensionBee's subsidiary is FCA-regulated for custody and holds direct integrations with asset managers like BlackRock and State Street, a compliance moat AI can't replicate. It ships its own AI chat feature (disclosed Jan 2026) but keeps human account managers, citing 2025-2026 research showing savers want hybrid, not full automation.
- Who is PensionBee's biggest competitor?
- Nutmeg, a UK robo-adviser acquired by JPMorgan in 2021 and now operating as J.P. Morgan Personal Investing, is a directly comparable, well-funded rival in the pension-consolidation category as of 2026.
- How much does PensionBee manage (AUA)?
- PensionBee's Assets under Administration reached £7.4bn as of 31 December 2025, up 27% year-on-year, across 305,000 Invested Customers, per its FY2025 Results Announcement published 2026-03-11.
- Will the UK Pension Dashboard hurt PensionBee's business?
- It's a live risk: the government's Pension Dashboard has a final provider connection deadline of 31 October 2026, which could commoditize PensionBee's core 'find your pensions' function and raise customer-acquisition costs by H1 2027, per reporting dated 2026-07-15.
