The call

Perdoceo is growing revenue and enrollment now, but its entire model rests on a federal aid license under active regulatory and legal attack, with a 2028 eligibility deadline looming.

Perdoceo runs three online colleges (Colorado Technical University, American InterContinental University, and US Army High School) that teach students and take federal student loans to pay for it. The problem is that it is easy to copy because other schools like Western Governors University and Southern New Hampshire University offer the same degrees with the same government approval but without the reputation damage of being a for-profit company, and they are already winning students away. Meanwhile, AI can handle homework help and admissions scripts, but it cannot get you the accredited degree or the federal loan money, so AI is not the real threat.

Why
01
AI pressure: None apparent. AI tools like intellipath adaptive testing and chatbots cut Perdoceo's own teaching and recruiting costs rather than threaten it from outside. Could AI do the core job? Only partly.
02
Bigger players: Western Governors University, Southern New Hampshire University, Arizona State University Online, Purdue Global. Nonprofit online schools hold the same federal aid eligibility with no for-profit stigma, and AIU enrollment is already declining while they grow. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. Federal Title IV student aid eligibility and accreditation, which every competitor also has and which regulators are now trying to restrict.
