The call

Pixso survives on a regulatory gap Figma can't cross, while domestic rival Modao chases the same gap and AI erodes the design layer underneath both.

Pixso makes design software for companies and government agencies in China that need to keep their work on private servers inside China, not on Figma's cloud. Figma cannot easily enter this market because of US export rules and China's data-sovereignty laws, which gives Pixso breathing room. However, a rival called Modao has the same advantage, AI tools like Uizard and ChatGPT are starting to automate design work (and Pixso's AI is just borrowed from ChatGPT-4, not custom-built), and nobody publicly knows Pixso's real revenue, funding, or team size, making it impossible to gauge if the company is truly valuable or just a shell.

Why
01
AI pressure: AI-native design generators (Uizard, Visily, Galileo) and OpenAI/Anthropic text-to-design features. Pixso's own AI layer is a ChatGPT-4 wrapper, so any generic text-to-UI tool can match its main new feature. Could AI do the core job? Yes, likely.
02
Bigger players: Figma. Figma is blocked from China's compliance market by data-sovereignty rules, but a future China JV would erase Pixso's only edge. Could a giant copy it? Probably.
03
What protects it. Private and government-cloud deployment for China-regulated enterprises, a slot Figma cannot legally fill today.
What would change this call
Modao announces a named SOE or government private-deployment contract within 12 months. Shows Modao capturing the compliance niche Pixso depends on for its only moat.
Figma announces a China joint venture or local-data hosting partnership. Would remove the regulatory barrier that currently keeps Figma out of Pixso's market.
Pixso or Boardmix discloses verified revenue figures or named enterprise/government customers. Would confirm real traction beyond current unverifiable marketing claims.
Key numbers
  • Lifetime plan priced at $240, one-time (n.d.)
  • Free tier: unlimited files vs Figma's old 3-file cap (n.d.)
  • Pixso 2.0 added HarmonyOS integration in 2025 (2025)
Named risks
  • Zero independently verified revenue, funding, or headcount makes valuation and stability unassessable. Severity: high
  • Core AI feature depends entirely on third-party ChatGPT-4 rather than proprietary model. Severity: high
  • Modao contests identical China compliance moat with no demonstrated Pixso lead. Severity: high
  • Rapid AI-driven commoditization of vector/layout/prototyping work compresses core value proposition. Severity: medium
  • Potential Figma China joint venture or regulatory shift could eliminate Pixso's only structural moat. Severity: medium

Questions people ask
Is Pixso profitable and does it have disclosed revenue?
No independently verified revenue, ARR, or funding figures exist for Pixso as of 2026. Its owner, Shenzhen Pixso Technology Co., Ltd., discloses no financials; all traction claims (like 'trusted by leading enterprises') are vendor-authored marketing, not audited data.
Could AI replace Pixso's design tool?
Much of Pixso's core vector/layout work is already commoditized: a 2026-02-10 account showed a prototype-to-code pipeline shrink from weeks to about 2 hours using AI. Pixso's own AI feature is a ChatGPT-4 wrapper (per its FAQ), not a proprietary model.
Who owns Pixso?
Pixso is developed and owned by Shenzhen Pixso Technology Co., Ltd., headquartered in Nanshan District, Shenzhen, China, per its license agreement. Some deployment documents also reference the entity as BOYUN TECHNOLOGY LIMITED (Bosyun).
Who is Pixso's biggest competitor?
Domestically, Modao (Mockplus) is Pixso's closest rival, contesting the identical China compliance/private-deployment niche and both are dubbed the 'Chinese Figma' in trade press. Globally, Figma (NYSE: FIG) is the dominant incumbent, though it is blocked from China's data-sovereignty market.
Does Pixso have its own AI model?
No. Per Pixso's own FAQ page, 'Pixso AI is connected to ChatGPT4,' meaning its Smart Design feature (promoted 2026-04-28) relies on OpenAI's model rather than a proprietary foundation model built by Pixso.
What is Pixso's advantage over Figma in China?
Pixso offers private/on-premises and government-cloud deployment for Chinese enterprises, a compliance gap Figma cannot fill as a US public SaaS company; this was central to Pixso's enterprise marketing push on 2026-07-06.
