The call

A debt-built roll-up of Amazon brands now run by its own lender, with no clear plan yet for how it stops losing money.

SellerX buys small brands that sell products on Amazon, then tries to run them better to make money. The problem is that Amazon itself controls the fees, rules, and search results, so SellerX doesn't really own anything Amazon can't change tomorrow. Meanwhile, new AI tools let any seller optimize their listings and ads automatically, which means SellerX's skill at running these brands is now something anyone can copy. The big question is whether BlackRock (the company now in charge) will try to fix SellerX by hiring a new leader to turn it around, or whether it will just quietly sell off the brands one by one to cut losses.

Why
01
AI pressure: AI-driven Amazon seller tools (listing, PPC, forecasting). AI tools automate the listing, ad-bidding, and inventory work that justified paying a premium to acquire these brands. Could AI do the core job? Yes, likely.
02
Bigger players: Amazon. Amazon sets FBA fees, Buy Box rules, and ranking algorithms that squeeze margins on every brand SellerX owns. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. None apparent: brands generate real Amazon sales but carry no technology or pricing power of their own.
What would change this call
SellerX names permanent CEO (post-Dec 2025 search). Turnaround operator signals rebuild; restructuring specialist signals wind-down.
BlackRock sells SellerX brands piecemeal vs. holds and operates them. Piecemeal sales confirm liquidation; hold-and-operate suggests stabilization attempt.
Next BlackRock BDC report on SellerX loan accrual status. Return to non-accrual would show restructuring failed again.

Questions people ask
Is SellerX profitable in 2026?
SellerX has never disclosed audited revenue. BlackRock's TCP Capital BDC reported in February 2026 that failed restructurings at SellerX and peer Razor Group drove roughly $100M in realized losses and a 23% NAV decline for 2025, indicating continued financial distress rather than profitability.
Who owns SellerX now?
BlackRock became SellerX's largest shareholder in September/October 2024 through a debt-for-equity swap after SellerX defaulted on its BlackRock/Victory Park credit facility, which had moved to non-accrual status earlier in 2024.
Could AI replace what SellerX does?
AI-driven Amazon seller tools for listing optimization, PPC bidding, forecasting and inventory planning increasingly automate SellerX's core operational tasks industry-wide as of 2025-2026, though SellerX still legally owns trademarks and brand history that software alone can't replicate.
Who is SellerX's biggest competitor?
Amazon itself functions as landlord, controlling FBA fees and ranking algorithms that squeeze all aggregators. Among peers, Thrasio filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy in February 2024 and Razor Group was marked non-accrual by lender BlackRock, both mirroring SellerX's distress.
Did SellerX go bankrupt?
SellerX has not filed formal bankruptcy, but it defaulted on its BlackRock/Victory Park loan in 2024, prompting BlackRock to start an auction via agent GLAS. The auction was called off after a debt-for-equity restructuring completed in September/October 2024.
Does SellerX have a CEO right now?
As of the December 3, 2025 announcement, both CEO Olivier Van Calster and CFO Kurt Rosen had departed. SellerX's board is searching for a new US-based CEO with brand-building experience, leaving the company without a permanent leader.
