Sify Technologies
Indian data center and network operator racing to expand capacity via a subsidiary IPO.
Sify holds real infrastructure and licenses but is running a capital race against richer rivals, with its future hinging on one IPO landing on schedule.
Sify Technologies runs 14 data centers across India with 154 megawatts of power capacity and holds rare licenses to land overseas cables, making it one of India's top three data-center companies. The problem is that richer competitors like STT GDC (backed by Tata and Singapore's Telemask), Airtel's Nxtra division, and Adani are all building faster and bigger with far more money to spend, so owning the infrastructure today does not guarantee winning tomorrow. The company is currently losing money and has borrowed heavily (33.5 billion rupees in debt), betting that a planned spinoff of one of its units will raise enough cash to pay down that debt and keep building, but the timing of that spinoff remains unclear and each month of delay makes the race against richer rivals even harder to win.
STT GDC, Nxtra, or AdaniConneX quarterly capacity additions versus Sify's 100 MW FY27 target. Shows whether the capacity gap with better-funded rivals is widening or narrowing.
Digital Services segment revenue trend in Sify's next two quarterly reports. Shows whether the AI-driven decline in systems integration/managed IT continues without a fix.
- FY26 revenue ₹44,877M, up 13%
- FY26 net loss ₹1,366M
- Net debt ₹33.5B, up from ₹28.7B
- Net debt rose to ₹33,534 million by March 2026, up from ₹28,705 million, ahead of an undated IPO refinancing.

- Digital Services segment revenue fell 67% in Q4 FY26 with no disclosed breakeven timeline.
- Audit committee left with only two independent directors after a June 2025 resignation, a Nasdaq governance compliance concern.
- Better-capitalized rivals (STT GDC, Nxtra, AdaniConneX) are announcing capacity far exceeding Sify's build pace.

- Is Sify Technologies profitable in 2026?
- No for full-year FY2025-26 (ended March 31, 2026), Sify posted a net loss of INR 1,366 million despite 13% revenue growth to INR 44,877 million. However, Q1 FY2026-27 (June 2026) turned a net profit of ₹6.5 crore versus a ₹32 crore loss a year earlier.

- Could AI replace Sify Technologies' business?
- AI mainly threatens Sify's Digital Services segment (systems integration, managed IT), which saw results decline 67% in Q4 FY26 with no breakeven timeline given. Its core data center and network business instead benefits from AI as a customer, supplying NVIDIA DGX-Ready GPU colocation since 2024.
