The call

SigNoz has a clean technical design and growing downloads but no new funding in three years and a bigger open-source rival closing the gap.

SigNoz makes software that helps companies track how well their applications are running. It has built something hard to copy by combining two popular open-source tools together in one place, which competitors usually keep separate. But Grafana, a much larger rival with more users and community support, is building the same unified approach and has far more resources to sell it. The biggest wildcard is whether SigNoz can raise new money soon and prove it can grow without it, because three years without funding could mean either the company runs lean and smart, or it is struggling to convince investors it has a real business.

Why
01
AI pressure: Datadog and New Relic AI-powered observability agents. AI agents that auto-instrument and monitor code could make SigNoz's manual setup look dated if it doesn't ship its own fast enough. Could AI do the core job? Only partly.
02
Bigger players: Grafana Labs. Grafana has more GitHub stars, a bigger community, and is unifying Loki, Tempo, and Mimir into the same kind of single stack SigNoz offers. Could a giant copy it? Probably.
03
What protects it. Its single OpenTelemetry/ClickHouse schema is simpler to run than Grafana's separate Loki/Tempo/Mimir tools, for now.
What would change this call
SigNoz announces a Series A round within 12 months. Would show investors see growth and a path past three years of funding silence.
Grafana Labs ships a fully unified LGTM stack with pricing aimed at cost-sensitive users. Would close SigNoz's architectural edge and intensify customer pull toward Grafana.
SigNoz discloses named enterprise logos or ARR growth figures. Would confirm real commercial traction beyond GitHub stars and downloads.

Questions people ask
Is SigNoz profitable in 2026?
No official revenue or profitability figures have been disclosed by SigNoz. The last publicly confirmed funding event was a $5.4M seed round led by SignalFire on September 28, 2023, and no follow-on round has been announced as of July 2026.
Has SigNoz raised a Series A?
As of July 22, 2026, SigNoz has not announced a Series A. Its most recent disclosed raise was a $5.4M seed led by SignalFire (with Uncorrelated Ventures, Alumni Ventures, and GitHub co-founder Tom Preston-Werner) on September 28, 2023.
Who owns SigNoz?
SigNoz is privately held and venture-backed with no parent company. It went through Y Combinator's W21 batch and raised a $5.4M seed round led by SignalFire in September 2023, bringing disclosed total funding to about $6.5M.
Could AI replace SigNoz?
SigNoz is building AI into its own product rather than being replaced by it: it launched an MCP server for coding agents in May 2026 and 'Noz,' an AI teammate for querying telemetry and building dashboards, made available to all Cloud users on June 17, 2026.
Who is SigNoz's biggest competitor?
Datadog is the incumbent SigNoz positions against, but Grafana Labs is the more direct peer threat: as of July 12, 2026, Grafana's open-source community had roughly 60k+ GitHub stars versus SigNoz's 29.1k, and Grafana is unifying its Loki/Tempo/Mimir stack.
What does SigNoz cost compared to Datadog?
SigNoz uses usage-based pricing (per-GB for logs/traces, per-million-samples for metrics) with no per-host surcharge, unlike Datadog. Its Teams plan starts at $49 per month, discounted to $19 per month for startups, per an April 30, 2026 pricing review.
