The call

SIS keeps growing revenue and beating G4S in India, but thin, swinging margins mean the AI question is really a margin question, not a survival one yet.

SIS Limited runs security services across India, guarding buildings, handling cash deliveries, and monitoring sites. It is hard to copy because India requires state-by-state licenses, SIS has 300+ offices spread across the country, and the cash-handling business has strict regulations that keep out foreign rivals like G4S and pure software startups. The real question is whether SIS can earn more money per worker by using cameras and AI instead of just hiring more guards, or whether it stays trapped in a low-profit business that only grows by buying other security companies.

Why
01
AI pressure: AI-enabled video surveillance and computer-vision access control vendors. Camera and drone based monitoring could cut guard counts per site, but Indian clients still buy human presence for now. Could AI do the core job? Only partly.
02
Bigger players: Allied Universal (formerly G4S). Global rival competes across India today, but SIS says its own India security run rate now doubles G4S's after the AP Securitas deal. Could a giant copy it? No, they are blocked.
03
What protects it. State-by-state security licensing, 300+ offices, and regulated cash-handling infrastructure that a software-only entrant cannot copy fast.
What would change this call
SIS FY27 revenue vs its own Rs20,000 crore guidance, checkable in Q1-Q2 FY27 results by Sept 2026. Shows whether the AP Securitas-driven growth story is holding up or stalling.
EBITDA margin over next 4-6 quarters staying near 4.5% or expanding. Reveals whether AI or tech is improving margins or growth remains pure labor arbitrage.
Any large bank or IT-park contract won by an AI-vision security entrant pitching fewer guards. Would signal a real model-based threat to SIS's guard-heavy staffing model.
Key numbers
  • FY26 revenue Rs 15,982 crore, up 21.2% YoY (2026-03-31)
  • Q3 FY26 net loss Rs 138.37 crore (2026-01-31)
  • Q4 FY26 net profit Rs 102.5 crore (2026-03-31)
Named risks
  • Thin, volatile EBITDA margins near 4.5-4.8% with a ₹138 crore quarterly loss in Q3 FY26. Severity: high
  • Growth increasingly inorganic via M&A (AP Securitas) rather than organic margin-accretive expansion. Severity: medium
  • AI-enabled video surveillance and drones could structurally reduce guards needed per site over time. Severity: medium
  • SIS Cash Services IPO deferred, adding uncertainty to cash-logistics unit's capital plans. Severity: low
  • AP Securitas full buyout runs through 2029, leaving years of integration and dilution risk. Severity: medium

Questions people ask
Is SIS Limited profitable in 2026?
Yes overall: SIS Limited posted FY26 (year ended March 31, 2026) net profit of ₹137.8 crore on revenue of ₹15,982 crore, but the year was choppy, with a ₹138.37 crore net loss in Q3 FY26 followed by a ₹102.5 crore profit in Q4 FY26.
Could AI replace SIS Limited's security guards?
Not fully by mid 2026. AI video analytics and drones can reduce guards needed per site, but Indian state licensing, liability insurance, and cash-logistics rules require licensed humans. SIS itself uses AI (ManTech, MySIS app) for efficiency, but revenue growth still comes mainly from headcount and M&A, not AI-driven margin gains.
Who is SIS Limited's biggest competitor?
G4S (now part of Allied Universal) was India's long-standing multinational security incumbent; SIS management claimed in September 2025 that its India security business runs at roughly 2x G4S's monthly revenue following the AP Securitas acquisition, a company-claimed figure not independently confirmed.
Who owns SIS Limited?
SIS Limited is majority controlled by the Sinha family, founder Ravindra Kishore Sinha and his son Rituraj Kishore Sinha, who held about 70.4% post its August 2017 IPO at ₹815 per share. It trades publicly on NSE and BSE (ticker SIS, BSE code 540673).
Did SIS Limited make an acquisition recently?
Yes, in September 2025 SIS announced acquiring a 51% stake in A P Securitas (APS Group), India's 6th largest security firm, for about ₹650 crore in a two-tranche deal reaching full ownership by 2029, adding roughly ₹1,200 crore annualized revenue and about 57,000 employees.
Will SIS Cash Services go public?
It filed a DRHP with SEBI in March 2026 for an IPO of its cash-logistics joint venture with Prosegur, but as of June 16, 2026 management said the listing was deferred, not abandoned, pending better market conditions.
