The call

Spirit AI has real factory deployments and a benchmark lead that keeps flipping, sitting behind two better-selling rivals in a market the US just closed off.

Spirit AI builds humanoid robots for manufacturing plants. They have actual orders from CATL and Bosch, plus data from 400,000 job sites, which should be hard to copy. But AgiBot and Unitree are shipping more robots and have more money behind them, NVIDIA is building competing software, and the US banned Chinese humanoid robots starting July 2026, which cuts off a huge market. The one thing that could save Spirit AI is if their existing factory customers become so dependent on their robots that switching to a rival becomes too expensive or risky, and if their data advantage keeps their robots noticeably better than competitors. Right now, neither of those things is guaranteed.

Why
01
AI pressure: NVIDIA Cosmos/GR00T platform. NVIDIA's Cosmos and GR00T stack, already paired with Unitree, could turn Spirit AI's models into one option among many rather than the standard. Could AI do the core job? Only partly.
02
Bigger players: AgiBot and Unitree Robotics. AgiBot ships 39% of humanoid units and Unitree 32%, both outproducing Spirit AI while Unitree clears a STAR Market IPO and AgiBot eyes Hong Kong. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. Live deployments inside CATL and Bosch factories feed Spirit AI real production data from 400k+ sites that rivals without factory floor access cannot easily copy.
What would change this call
Spirit AI's 2026-2027 unit shipment figures published and compared to AgiBot/Unitree totals. Shows whether Spirit AI is closing the volume gap or falling further behind the duopoly.
CATL or Bosch announces a multi-year exclusive VLA contract with Spirit AI, or instead expands ties with AgiBot/Unitree. Shows whether Spirit AI's flagship deployments convert to locked-in recurring revenue or get contested.
NVIDIA Cosmos/GR00T stack adopted as default by additional humanoid makers beyond Unitree. Shows whether NVIDIA's platform is becoming the industry standard, sidelining Spirit AI's proprietary stack.

Questions people ask
Is Spirit AI profitable in 2026?
No revenue figures have been disclosed. Spirit AI is a private, venture-backed Chinese humanoid robotics firm valued around $2.9B as of mid 2026, with traction measured in deployments at CATL and Bosch rather than public financials, per Inforcapital, June 18, 2026.
Who owns Spirit AI?
Spirit AI (Qianxun Intelligence) is privately held, founded early 2024 by Han Fengtao and Gao Yang. Investors include Sequoia China, Shunwei Capital, Prosperity7 Ventures, plus strategics CATL, Bosch, JD.com, Huawei and Xiaomi, per 36Kr, February 24, 2026.
Who is Spirit AI's biggest competitor?
Spirit AI trails China's humanoid duopoly: AgiBot shipped about 5,168 units in 2025 for 39% share, and Unitree shipped about 4,200 units for 32% share and cleared a STAR Market IPO review in June 2026, per Tech Times, June 2, 2026.
Could NVIDIA replace or outcompete Spirit AI?
NVIDIA is a direct platform threat: it named Unitree's H2 Plus as reference hardware for GR00T. Spirit AI claims its v1.6 model outscored NVIDIA's Cosmos 3 on the RoboArena benchmark in June 2026, per Aiwiki, July 7, 2026, but the lead has flipped before.
Has the US banned Spirit AI's robots?
Yes. On July 28-29, 2026 the US FCC added advanced robotic devices, including humanoid and quadruped robots, to its Covered List, barring new FCC authorization for Chinese-made robots like Spirit AI's, per Forbes, July 29, 2026.
How much funding has Spirit AI raised?
Spirit AI raised roughly $648M cumulatively across six rounds in under two years, per Inforcapital, June 18, 2026, including a 1.5 billion yuan A+ round on June 3, 2026 and $420M backed by Lei Jun and Jack Ma-linked funds by April 2026.
