Superpeer
Defunct platform for paid 1:1 video calls and courses between creators and fans.
On the record
Checkpoint: Skillshare's next funding round terms, which will show if it invests further in the former Superpeer tools or lets them fade
The call
Superpeer stopped existing as a company once Skillshare absorbed its assets and closed the site, ending any independent story to track.
Superpeer was a platform where creators could offer one-on-one video calls and coaching sessions to their fans for a fee. It was easy to copy because scheduling and payment processing are standard tools that many companies already offer, and creators already owned their own audiences, so they didn't depend on Superpeer itself. Skillshare bought the company in March 2024 and shut it down at the end of that year, folding its features into Skillshare's main site, which means there is no independent Superpeer to invest in anymore.
Why
01
AI pressure: None apparent. Superpeer no longer operates, so no AI product can take share from it; the question is moot. Could AI do the core job? Yes, likely.
02
Bigger players: Skillshare. Skillshare bought Superpeer's assets in March 2024 and shut the standalone site on December 31, 2024, folding tools into its own product. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. None remains; the company was dissolved as an independent entity with no equity, team, or roadmap left to defend.
What would change this call
Skillshare raises a new equity round at flat or up valuation. Would show renewed investor confidence and possible reinvestment in ex-Superpeer tools.
Skillshare ships a major Creator Hub product update or AI feature. Would show Skillshare is prioritizing the acquired Superpeer tooling, not just maintaining it.
Skillshare headcount or Creator Hub feature set shrinks further in 2026. Would confirm continued retreat from 1:1 video and creator-monetization tools.

Questions people ask
- Is Superpeer still a company in 2026?
- No. Skillshare acquired Superpeer's technology and key assets in March 2024, and the standalone Superpeer website was fully sunset on December 31, 2024. CB Insights lists Superpeer's company stage as Dead as of October 2024. Its domain now redirects to Skillshare's own site.
- Can I still invest in or hold equity in Superpeer?
- No. The March 2024 deal was an asset acquisition, not a full equity rollover. An independent analyst at RockWater speculated on April 2, 2024 that Superpeer's venture investors likely did not roll over equity, meaning prior shareholder positions were effectively dissolved.
- Who bought Superpeer and why?
- Skillshare acquired Superpeer's technology and key assets in March 2024 to expand its creator product suite beyond on-demand classes into 1:1 video calls, livestreaming, and digital products, per a March 13, 2024 press release.
- Did Superpeer have a moat that protected it from competitors or AI?
- No structural moat is documented. Its scheduling and payment tooling was generic SaaS functionality, and value sat with the creators' own audiences, not the platform. CB Insights named Cameo as its closest competitor as of March 2024.
- How much funding did Superpeer raise before shutting down?
- Superpeer raised a $2M seed round led by Eniac Ventures in March 2020, then $8M more in November 2020 from Acrew Capital and others, for $10M total. CB Insights confirms no further rounds occurred after 2020 before the company went Dead.
- What happened to Superpeer's paid channels and subscriptions feature?
- Channel subscriptions, streams, series, and newsletters were discontinued when the standalone site sunset on December 31, 2024. Only 1:1 sessions and digital products were folded into Skillshare's rebranded Creator Hub, per Skillshare's help center article dated July 15, 2025.
