Traceforce
Endpoint monitoring that finds AI apps and MCP connections on company devices.
A two-person team is trying to hold a corner that four funded security platforms already ship features for.
Traceforce watches what AI programs do on work computers and alerts security teams if something looks risky. The problem is that CrowdStrike, Palo Alto Networks, SentinelOne, and Obsidian Security all released their own versions 12 to 18 months before Traceforce launched in July 2026, and these companies already have thousands of customers who use their security software on every computer. Those big companies can add AI monitoring as a free extra to what customers already pay for, so there is little reason for a customer to switch to a new small company. The one thing that could change this is if Traceforce finds a specific type of customer or problem that the big companies are ignoring, or if it gets acquired by one of them before running out of money.
Traceforce's customer count grows beyond its initial 10 organizations and 1,000 devices by early 2027. Would show real traction rather than stalling against incumbent bundling.
CrowdStrike, Palo Alto Networks, SentinelOne, or Obsidian announce acquisition of Traceforce or a similar MCP-security startup. Would confirm incumbents are closing the niche by buying rather than losing to it.
- 2 employees per YC directory
- 1,000 devices across 10 organizations at launch
- CrowdStrike Falcon AIDR went GA in Dec 2025, 7 months earlier
- Four well-capitalized incumbents already shipped overlapping AI-agent/MCP security features before Traceforce's launch.
- Two-person team with no disclosed moat, integration lock-in, or regulatory certification to defend against incumbent bundling.
- All traction and customer figures are self-reported by founders with no independent verification.
- Frontier AI labs building native admin/governance into their own clients could make third-party discovery tools redundant.
- Domain and branding ambiguity (traceforce.dev vs traceforce.ai) unresolved as of July 2026.
| Rival | Direction | Evidence |
|---|---|---|
| CrowdStrike | losing to | Falcon AIDR reached GA December 2025, before Traceforce's July 2026 launch |
| Palo Alto Networks | losing to | Prisma AIRS MCP Server shipped April 2025, 15 months ahead of Traceforce launch |
| SentinelOne | losing to | Acquired Prompt Security in 2025 to bundle AI-agent security into endpoint suite |
| Obsidian Security | losing to | Shipped AI Agent Security module September 2025, has established SSPM customer base |
| Microsoft (Entra Agent ID) | losing to | Bundles AI-agent governance into M365, per Nightfall AI landscape report, 2026-07-05 |
- Is Traceforce profitable in 2026?
- No revenue or profitability figures have been disclosed. Traceforce is a 2-employee, Y Combinator Summer 2026 (S26) startup that publicly launched on July 16, 2026, with traction limited to about 1,000 devices across 10 organizations, all vendor-reported figures.
- Could AI or incumbents replace Traceforce?
- Yes, plausibly. CrowdStrike (Falcon AIDR, GA December 2025), Palo Alto Networks (Prisma AIRS MCP Server, April 2025), and SentinelOne (Prompt Security acquisition, 2025) already ship overlapping AI-agent and MCP security monitoring as upsell features to existing customers, undercutting Traceforce's standalone pitch.
- Who is Traceforce's biggest competitor?
- CrowdStrike, Palo Alto Networks, and SentinelOne are the largest threats, having shipped competing AI-agent/MCP monitoring features 12-18 months before Traceforce's July 2026 launch. Obsidian Security also added an AI Agent Security module in September 2025, targeting the same buyer base.
- Who owns Traceforce?
- Traceforce is privately held and backed by Y Combinator as part of its Summer 2026 (S26) batch. No additional investor names or funding amounts beyond standard YC accelerator terms were publicly disclosed as of July 2026.
- What does Traceforce's product actually do?
- Traceforce installs a lightweight binary and browser extension on employee devices, streaming telemetry within about 30 minutes to show all AI apps and MCP connections across a company's device fleet, with optional deeper inspection to block risky AI actions, per its July 16, 2026 Launch HN post.
- Has Traceforce raised a seed round?
- No public seed round beyond Y Combinator's standard S26 investment has been confirmed as of July 2026. Any specific funding figure circulating should be treated as unverified pending an official announcement.
