The call

Vise has a working product and real client relationships, but five years without a new round and unaudited growth numbers leave its size hard to verify.

Vise built software that helps financial advisors manage client portfolios and customize investments, and it has obtained real regulatory approval to handle client money directly. However, giants like Morgan Stanley, Envestnet, and Orion already offer similar tools, and they have deep relationships with advisors, so Vise is not the only choice. The company claims its customer accounts and assets grew massively, but these numbers come only from Vise itself and have not been checked by outsiders; the stock price has not moved in five years even though the company says it is booming, and at one point a single big client held over one-third of all the money on the platform, which is risky. The one thing that would matter most is whether Morgan Stanley, Envestnet, or Orion actually ship features that work as well as Vise's tools and start winning over Vise's customers, proving Vise can be replaced.

Why
01
AI pressure: Orion Denali AI, Morgan Stanley/OpenAI advisor tools. Big custodians are bolting AI portfolio tools onto platforms advisors already use, copying Vise's pitch without switching costs. Could AI do the core job? Only partly.
02
Bigger players: Morgan Stanley via Parametric, Envestnet, Orion. These firms already run direct indexing and portfolio construction tools for the same RIA customers Vise targets. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. SEC registration and custodial integrations make an advisor's back office painful to rip out once accounts are onboarded.
What would change this call
Vise announces a new funding round (up, down, or flat) after five years at $1B valuation. Would confirm or contradict claimed hypergrowth and validate or deflate the AUM story.
Another flagship client leaves Vise's platform without fast replacement. Would repeat the Manhattan West pattern and show client concentration risk is unresolved.
Orion or Parametric/Morgan Stanley publicly ship a competing AI-driven direct-indexing engine for RIAs. Would show incumbents closing the product gap and pulling advisor share from Vise.

  • All growth and AUM figures since 2024 are company self-reported and unaudited. Severity: medium
  • LLM chat assistant layer commoditizable by rival AI features like Orion's Denali AI. Severity: medium
  • Conflicting third-party headcount data (101 vs 192) obscures true company size. Severity: low

Questions people ask
Is Vise profitable in 2026?
Vise does not disclose audited revenue or profit figures. It earns AUM-based advisory fees through its SEC-registered entity Vise AI Advisors LLC. The company has not confirmed a new funding round since its May 2021 Series C, and no profitability claim has been made as of July 2026.
How much has Vise raised and what is it worth?
Vise raised roughly $125 to 130 million through a May 2021 Series C led by Ribbit Capital, crossing a $1 billion valuation. No new funding round has been publicly confirmed since then, meaning the valuation has stayed frozen at $1 billion for five years as of 2026.
Could AI replace Vise's core product?
Vise's proprietary portfolio optimizer and its SEC-registered fiduciary status are harder to replace with generic AI, but its LLM chat layer, Vise Intelligence launched September 2023, is a commoditizable wrapper already matched by rival Orion's Denali AI as of 2026.
Who is Vise's biggest competitor?
Vise competes directly with Morgan Stanley's Parametric, Envestnet, Orion Advisor Solutions, and JPMorgan's OpenInvest (acquired 2021). Vise even publishes a head-to-head comparison page against Parametric, showing it views the Morgan Stanley product as its main rival as of 2026.
Is Vise a safe company to join in 2026?
Vise cut headcount from over 150 to about 40 during a 2022-2023 restructuring while cutting monthly burn from roughly $3 million to under $1 million, per its own February 2026 blog post. Third-party headcount trackers conflict, listing 101 to 192 employees, so exact current staffing size is uncertain.
How much AUM does Vise manage as of 2026?
Vise claims over $100 billion in platform assets across more than 100 advisory firms and 135,000-plus accounts, per its own July 23, 2026 press release with Alpha Architect. This figure is company-reported and unaudited.
