The call

Visier still holds ground in companies juggling multiple HR systems, but Workday's native analytics and Microsoft's Copilot ambitions are closing in from both sides while funding has stalled since 2021.

Visier sells software that analyzes employee data across multiple HR systems, letting large companies see workforce trends no single system shows by itself. It has been hard to replace because it knows how 25 million employees across different companies compare to each other, and it works with Workday, SAP, and Oracle together rather than favoring one. But this advantage is shrinking fast: Workday now builds similar analytics directly into its own software for customers who use only Workday, and Microsoft is adding AI assistants that can answer basic HR questions without needing Visier at all. The company has not raised new funding in five years, has not grown its staff, and appears to have stopped growing, which suggests it may have hit a ceiling. What could change everything: if Workday's built-in analytics fail to satisfy customers or if Microsoft's AI tools prove too basic to replace real analysis work, Visier could stay relevant; if either one ships better tools, Visier loses fast.

Why
01
AI pressure: Microsoft Copilot. Visier built Vee on Azure OpenAI and plugged into Copilot, but Microsoft could ship native headcount queries and cut Visier out. Could AI do the core job? Only partly.
02
Bigger players: Workday. Workday now ships its own People Analytics inside the suite, hitting Visier hardest in single-suite customers. Could a giant copy it? Probably.
03
What protects it. Its 25M+ employee benchmarking dataset and neutral cross-system view only work for companies running more than one HCM suite.
What would change this call
Workday announces expanded native People Analytics adoption metrics in shared accounts. Would show Visier losing ground in multi-HCM accounts to suite-native tools.
Microsoft ships a native Copilot workforce-data connector for headcount/attrition queries. Would show Microsoft commoditizing the interface layer Visier currently charges for.
Visier announces a new funding round, down-round, or IPO filing. Would show whether Visier is re-accelerating or confirming a stalled plateau.

Questions people ask
Is Visier profitable in 2026?
Visier discloses no public financials as a private company. Its last confirmed funding was a $125M Series E in June 2021 at over $1B valuation, and no new round or valuation update has been reported since, leaving profitability unconfirmed as of mid 2026.
Could AI replace Visier?
Partially exposed. Visier's own assistant Vee runs on Azure OpenAI GPT-4 Turbo (GA April 16, 2024, upgraded to GPT-4.1 in summer 2025) and integrated with Microsoft 365 Copilot in April 2025, meaning the interface layer it built is also the layer Microsoft could commoditize directly.
Who is Visier's biggest competitor?
Workday is the primary threat because its HCM suite already ships native People Analytics, reducing the case for a standalone tool in single-suite accounts. SAP SuccessFactors Analytics and Oracle Analytics for HCM are secondary bundled rivals shipping similar functionality.
What is Vee, Visier's AI assistant?
Vee is Visier's generative AI digital assistant for workforce questions, reaching general availability April 16, 2024, built on Microsoft Azure OpenAI's GPT-4 Turbo, later upgraded to GPT-4.1 in summer 2025, and integrated with Microsoft 365 Copilot starting April 2025.
Who owns Visier and when was it founded?
Visier is privately held and venture-backed, founded in 2010 in Vancouver, Canada by John Schwarz, Ryan Wong, and other co-founders. Its last funding round was a $125M Series E led by Goldman Sachs Asset Management, closed June 29, 2021, valuing it over $1B.
Has Visier been acquired or made acquisitions?
Visier remains an independent private company as of 2026. It made one notable acquisition itself, buying Yva.ai's assets in May 2022 to add collaboration and work-insights analytics to its people-data platform.
