The call

What remains after 2021 is a small services business kept alive by the same families who once ran the schools, with no independent customer base or product.

Wisdom Education used to run K-12 schools in China, but the Chinese government banned listed companies from controlling schools in 2021 and forced it to spin them off. Now the company only sells uniforms, supplies, and IT services back to those same schools through special deals with insiders who still control everything. The real threat is not a competitor but China's regulators, who could tighten rules on these insider deals, force prices down to fair-market rates, or push the company off the Hong Kong stock exchange, and what matters most is whether the schools it depends on stay healthy and whether regulators accept how much money flows between them.

Why
01
AI pressure: None apparent. No AI product or exposure; the company sells uniforms and logistics to schools, not software or content. Could AI do the core job? Only partly.
02
Bigger players: None apparent. No big-company rival is fighting for this business; the real force reshaping it was a 2021 PRC rule, not a competitor. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. Controlling shareholders own about 69% of shares and also control the school network that buys its services, keeping revenue flowing on related-party terms.

Questions people ask
Is Wisdom Education profitable in 2026?
Yes but declining. In H1 FY2026 (six months to 28 Feb 2026), revenue rose 14.7% YoY to RMB79.96 million, but net profit fell 40.8% YoY to RMB30.55 million, reported 28 April 2026, continuing a multi-year margin deterioration trend.
Who owns Wisdom Education International Holdings?
Controlling shareholders Li Suwen (Chairperson) and Liu Xuebin, together with concert parties via Bright Education Investment Co. Limited, control roughly 1.51 billion shares, about 69% of the 2.178 billion shares in issue, as of an AGM circular dated 11 December 2025.
What happened to Wisdom Education's schools?
PRC Implementation Regulations effective 1 September 2021 barred listed companies from controlling compulsory-education schools, forcing deconsolidation of Wisdom Education's main school operations as of 31 August 2021 and a one-off loss of about RMB2,899 million recorded in FY2022 results.
Is it safe to invest in or join Wisdom Education right now?
High risk. The stock trades around HK$0.06 to 0.09 as of 25 July 2026, over 98% below its June 2018 peak of HK$7.50, with a market cap near HK$140 million and only about 137 full-time employees remaining after the 2021 school deconsolidation.
Could AI replace Wisdom Education's business?
Unlikely directly. Its remaining revenue comes from physical supply chain services (uniforms, school materials, RMB85.7 million in FY2025) and outsourced administrative services, not knowledge delivery; no AI product, pivot, or internal AI adoption was found in company filings through July 2026.
Who is Wisdom Education's biggest competitor?
Minsheng Education Group (1569.HK) is a larger HK-listed China private-education peer with a market cap above HK$500 million versus Wisdom Education's roughly HK$140 million as of early 2025 to 2026, though Minsheng also issued a profit warning in February 2025.
