The call

Workable keeps growing revenue and shipping AI features, but sits between low-switching-cost rivals and bigger platforms circling its SMB base.

Workable helps companies post jobs, find candidates, and manage hiring. The problem is that many competitors like BambooHR and Greenhouse do the same thing just as well, and bigger companies like Rippling are bundling hiring software together with payroll and HR tools at lower prices. Meanwhile, AI tools like ChatGPT and LinkedIn's own recruiting features can now do what Workable charges for, like screening resumes and writing job descriptions, which means customers may not need Workable's specialized software as much. The one thing that could save the company is if its new AI hiring assistant actually helps companies hire better people than the competing tools do, but so far only Workable claims this is true.

Why
01
AI pressure: LinkedIn's recruiter agents and general LLMs like ChatGPT/Claude. LinkedIn's agents and tools like ChatGPT already draft job posts, screen resumes, and source candidates without touching Workable. Could AI do the core job? Only partly.
02
Bigger players: Rippling. Rippling bundles payroll, HR, and hiring into one SMB platform, undercutting Workable's standalone ATS pitch. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. Workflow lock-in, integrations, and its new HRIS module make switching costly and let it match Rippling's bundle.
What would change this call
Workable announces a priced funding round or acquisition within 12-24 months. Would show whether the 7+ year funding silence ends in growth capital or a sale, clarifying trajectory.
Rippling publicly reports SMB ATS customer or bundle-attach growth in next earnings/press cycle. Would indicate Rippling is converting Workable's target SMB segment into its bundle.
Workable's next-year ARR growth estimate (Latka or similar) falls below 15% YoY. Would signal pricing power erosion or market saturation against crowded ATS peers.

Questions people ask
Is Workable profitable in 2026?
Workable does not disclose profitability publicly. Third party estimate Latka pegs 2024 revenue near $69.5M, up from $50.1M in 2023, showing growth, but the company has not confirmed a new funding round or profitability status since its 2018 Series C, as of July 2026.
Has Workable had layoffs?
No layoff news for Workable was found as of July 2026. Headcount estimates conflict, Latka reports about 400 employees in 2026 down slightly from 413 in 2024, while Unify GTM reports 771 employees, up 7.2 percent year over year, suggesting no mass reduction.
Could AI replace Workable?
AI threatens Workable's core layer, resume screening, sourcing, and candidate ranking, which generic LLMs and LinkedIn's recruiter agents already commoditize. Workable responded by launching Workable Agent in March 2026 and an MCP server with 94 tools by July 2026 to stay embedded rather than be bypassed.
Who is Workable's biggest competitor?
Rippling is the most direct structural threat, bundling payroll, HRIS, and ATS with a data advantage into Workable's SMB base as of 2026. BambooHR, JazzHR, Breezy HR, Recruitee, and Teamtailor compete on identical SMB ATS terrain with no structural barrier separating them.
Who owns Workable?
Workable is privately held and venture backed, with no parent company. It last raised a disclosed $50M Series C in November 2018 led by Zouk Capital, bringing total funding to roughly $84 to $86 million; no valuation or ownership change has been disclosed since.
What is Workable's revenue in 2026?
Workable does not disclose revenue. Third party estimator Latka put 2024 revenue at approximately $69.5M, up from $50.1M in 2023 and $30M in 2019, a consistent estimated growth trajectory, though these figures are estimates rather than company confirmed numbers.
