The call

YouTrip holds real regulatory ground in Singapore, Thailand, and Australia, but Wise and Revolut now sell the identical product on the same turf with deeper pockets.

YouTrip lets people send money and pay abroad without high bank fees, and it has grown to over 1 million users across Southeast Asia and Australia. It has government licenses that protect it from banks trying to copy it, but that does not help against Wise and Revolut, which offer the exact same service and are much larger and richer. Wise just cut its fees in Singapore in May 2026, taking customers directly from YouTrip. The real question is whether YouTrip can raise new money soon and keep its customers, because silence on funding plus customers switching to rivals would mean the company's story falls apart.

Why
01
AI pressure: None apparent. No AI agent or model directly displaces multi-currency wallets; FX conversion and card rails stay a licensing and banking problem, not a model problem. Could AI do the core job? Only partly.
02
Bigger players: Wise and Revolut. Both run the same prepaid multi-currency wallet in Singapore now, and Wise cut its Singapore ATM withdrawal fee from $400 to $100 in May 2026. Could a giant copy it? Probably.
03
What protects it. MAS payment license, a joint currency issuance deal with Kasikornbank in Thailand, and an ASIC entity in Australia that global rivals must rebuild market by market.
What would change this call
YouTrip announces a funded Series C round within the next 6 to 12 months. Would show investors still back its ability to defend share against Wise and Revolut.
YouTrip's Singapore or Thailand market share or user growth data appears in press after Wise's May 2026 fee cut. Would show whether Wise's aggressive pricing is actually pulling customers away.
Revolut's Australia user or transaction numbers reported nine-plus months after its late 2025 launch. Would show whether Revolut is gaining ground in a market YouTrip also serves.

Questions people ask
Is YouTrip profitable in 2026?
YouTrip has not disclosed profitability or revenue figures. Its last confirmed funding was a $50M Series B led by Lightspeed Venture Partners on October 25, 2023, and no company financial disclosures have surfaced since, per TechCrunch.
Who owns YouTrip?
YouTrip is privately held, co-founded by CEO Caecilia Chu and Chairman Arthur Mak. It is backed by Insignia Ventures Partners, Lightspeed Venture Partners, and Asian family offices, having raised roughly $100-105.5M across three rounds through October 2023.
Could AI replace YouTrip?
Not directly. YouTrip's MAS payment institution license, Kasikornbank co-issuance in Thailand, and ASIC-regulated Australian entity are regulatory assets AI cannot replicate. But AI answer engines threaten the fee-comparison content that drives its organic customer acquisition, per the July 2026 evidence brief.
Who is YouTrip's biggest competitor?
Wise and Revolut are YouTrip's closest global rivals offering near-identical multi-currency wallet products. Wise cut its free Singapore ATM withdrawal allowance from S$400 to S$100 per month effective May 1, 2026, directly pressuring YouTrip on its home turf.
Has YouTrip raised new funding recently?
No. As of July 2026, YouTrip's most recent disclosed round remains the $50M Series B led by Lightspeed Venture Partners from October 25, 2023, a roughly three-year gap with no newer round confirmed by PitchBook or CB Insights.
Is YouTrip expanding outside Singapore?
Yes. YouTrip added a Malaysian ringgit wallet in April 2025 and officially launched in Australia in November 2025 under a new ASIC-regulated entity, competing directly with Wise and Revolut in that market.
