Quirky
Dead invention-crowdsourcing startup, bankrupt since 2015, brand now an idle shell
Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing
Quirky ended as a company in 2015; what survives is a bankruptcy remnant holding a brand name and no operations.
Quirky was a website where regular people could submit product ideas, get feedback from other users, and potentially sell their inventions. The company went bankrupt in 2015 and shut down in 2024. It is not hard to replace because big companies like Amazon and Walmart can run their own invention programs, and artificial intelligence can now do all the main jobs Quirky did: generating ideas, testing them with voters, making design drawings, predicting what customers want, and connecting inventors to manufacturers. The only thing that might matter is whether the company's new shell owner, Q Holdings, actually tries to restart the website or sells the Quirky name to someone else in the next few months, but there are no signs of either happening.
