Freelance marketplace pairing writers and AI to produce blog and SEO copy for brands

What happened

Reported acquisition by AX Semantics (loss of independent operation) became publicly known (February 2024)

Why it did not hold

Scripted sells a task that generative AI now does natively, and its nearest twin, ClearVoice, is being shut down by its own owner.

Scripted is a marketplace that matches freelance writers with businesses that need blog posts and SEO content. The problem is that ChatGPT, Claude, and other AI systems now write this kind of content for free or cheap, and Fiverr already tried the same business model with a service called ClearVoice, which it is shutting down in early 2026 because it doesn't work. Scripted has nothing that stops customers from just using an AI tool directly, copying what competitors do, or moving to other writing services. The one thing that could matter: if Scripted captures a lot of ClearVoice's customers when it closes and shows clean, audited business numbers, it might prove the model can survive; otherwise, watch for the next wave of AI tools getting even better at writing first drafts.

01
AI pressure: ChatGPT, Jasper, Writesonic, Claude and similar LLM writing tools. These tools now write first-draft blog and SEO copy directly, the exact task Scripted sells, without a marketplace fee.
02
Bigger players: None apparent. Fiverr owns the closest peer, ClearVoice, but is winding it down in 2026 rather than pushing to beat Scripted.
03
What protected it. A hybrid writer-plus-AI editing layer and an existing base of paying clients give it something beyond raw AI output, though it's thin.
