The call

2C2P still processes real money across Southeast Asian rails, but its name, brand, and equity story are being absorbed into Ant's Antom line, and the SME pivot is losing money while it happens.

2C2P processes payments across Southeast Asia using local banking connections and airline ticketing systems that competitors would struggle to rebuild from scratch. But it already faces tough rivals like Adyen and Airwallex offering similar services, and its parent company Ant International (owned by Chinese tech giant Ant Group) has been quietly absorbing other payment companies into its Antom brand, which happened to MultiSafepay in 2024. The real question is whether 2C2P stays its own company or gets folded into Antom within the next few years, which would make it just a piece of a much larger Chinese operation rather than an independent business you could actually own a stake in.

Why
01
AI pressure: Visa Intelligent Commerce / agentic checkout pilots. Agentic commerce could let AI agents initiate payments directly, but someone still has to route and settle them, that stays 2C2P's job for now. Could AI do the core job? Unlikely.
02
Bigger players: Ant Group, via full absorption into the Antom brand. 2C2P has already been renamed '2C2P by Antom', following the 2024 MultiSafepay pattern of folding acquired processors into Ant's own brand. Could a giant copy it? Probably.
03
What protects it. MAS Major Payment Institution licence, deep local payment-rail integrations, and airline workflow lock-in across 25+ carriers.
What would change this call
2C2P is fully rebranded/merged into the Antom entity with no separate equity pool. Would show its independent identity was absorbed, following the MultiSafepay 2024 precedent.
2C2P's 2025 or 2026 annual results show net loss still widening alongside the SME pivot. Would show the SME expansion is not yet offsetting costs or reaching profitability.
Adyen or Airwallex announce a named airline or large enterprise client switching from 2C2P. Would show a same-industry rival is directly taking 2C2P's core accounts.

Questions people ask
Who owns 2C2P now?
2C2P is majority owned by Ant International (Ant Group's international arm), which took a controlling stake in April 2022. By December 2025 the company rebranded to '2C2P by Antom,' aligning its identity with Ant's global merchant-payments brand, per 2C2P's own December 14, 2025 brand refresh announcement.
Is 2C2P profitable?
No. Per Straits Times reporting dated January 20, 2026, 2C2P posted a wider net loss in 2024 despite revenue growing roughly 38% from 2024 to 2025, driven by higher employee costs and continued technology and infrastructure investment tied to its SME expansion push.
Who is 2C2P's biggest competitor?
Adyen and Airwallex are 2C2P's closest rivals in Southeast Asia, both holding Monetary Authority of Singapore Major Payment Institution licences as of July 16, 2026, meaning they can compete head-on in the same regulated merchant-acquiring market 2C2P serves.
Could AI replace 2C2P's payments business?
Unlikely to fully replace it. 2C2P uses Amazon Bedrock generative AI to cut merchant onboarding from days to about 30 minutes with a claimed 40% engineering productivity gain (announced May 27, 2026), but its regulated MAS licence and airline integrations (PACO) remain AI-resistant moats.
Is 2C2P laying people off?
No signs of layoffs. Revelio Labs estimated 2C2P Thailand headcount at approximately 1,062 employees as of December 2025, up 9.6% year over year from 2024, with active job postings rising 13.3% in 2025 versus the prior year.
What is 2C2P's SME pivot?
In February 2025, Ant International appointed Worachat Luxkanalode as CEO with a mandate to expand 2C2P beyond its historic enterprise-only focus to also serve small and medium businesses across Southeast Asia, leveraging Antom's AI-driven payment orchestration tools.
