The call

Alchemer keeps its customer base intact for now, but shrinking customer counts and a Gartner tag of 'limited AI' show it running to catch up rather than pull ahead.

Alchemer lets companies collect and analyze customer feedback through surveys and reviews. It is getting harder to defend because large language models can now do much of what Alchemer sells (writing surveys, reading open-ended answers, and replying to reviews) without needing specialized software, and bigger competitors like Qualtrics (owned by SAP) are adding their own AI agents. Alchemer has lost 2,000 customers since 2023, and its main escape route is whether its Chatmeter acquisition (which tracks online reviews and reputation) and its web of 400+ partner connections can lock customers in faster than AI tools commoditize the core survey business.

Why
01
AI pressure: Generic LLMs (ChatGPT, Claude, etc.) doing survey design and open-text analysis. AI can already draft surveys and code open-text responses, the exact tasks Alchemer charges for, pushing it to automate itself before others do. Could AI do the core job? Yes, likely.
02
Bigger players: Qualtrics (SAP). Qualtrics is shipping AI agents into its platform while Medallia struggles with reported debt issues, leaving Alchemer squeezed between a stronger and a weaker rival. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. 11,000+ customers wired into 400+ integrations plus new Chatmeter review data give it something to sell beyond plain surveys.
