The call

Ansarada now operates inside Datasite, the rival that bought it, with no public sign yet of whether it stays a separate product or gets absorbed.

Ansarada helps companies share and manage confidential documents securely during deals and legal work. It was bought by Datasite, which used to compete against it, making it hard to say whether Ansarada stays its own product or gets folded into Datasite's main offering over the next few years. The real threat is not from new AI tools like ChatGPT doing document work cheaper, but from Datasite's owners deciding to merge the two companies together and kill Ansarada as a separate choice for customers.

Why
01
AI pressure: Harvey and Blueflame agentic AI deal tools. AI tools now read, sort and answer questions on deal documents, pushing plain data rooms like Ansarada's toward commodity plumbing. Could AI do the core job? Only partly.
02
Bigger players: Datasite (its new parent company). Datasite bought Ansarada in 2024 for A$236.3M and could fold it into its own platform, erasing the separate brand and product line. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. Long-running Australian M&A and government contracts, workflow lock-in, and regulatory trust keep clients from switching data rooms mid-deal.
What would change this call
Datasite announces rebranding or migration of Ansarada into its main platform within 6-18 months. Would show Ansarada is being absorbed rather than run as a distinct product.
Datasite publicly commits to Ansarada as a separately branded line with its own roadmap and investment. Would show Ansarada retains independent standing inside its new parent.
Harvey or Blueflame launch standalone data-room features that bypass VDR providers. Would show AI legal tools are commoditizing the document layer Ansarada relies on.

Questions people ask
Is Ansarada still an independent public company?
No. Ansarada Group Limited was acquired by Datasite for A$236.3M (A$2.50/share) via Scheme of Arrangement, which became legally effective on 28 August 2024, and Ansarada delisted from the ASX that same day, becoming a wholly-owned Datasite subsidiary.
Who owns Ansarada now?
Ansarada is owned by Datasite, a US-based virtual data room company itself owned by private equity firm CapVest. The acquisition completed 28 August 2024 for A$236.3M, and Ansarada's separate GRC, ESG and Board products were carved out to CEO Sam Riley's entity for A$500,000.
Was Ansarada profitable before the Datasite acquisition?
Not quite. In FY24 (year ended 30 June 2024), Ansarada Group reported revenue of A$56.69M, up from A$51.77M, with net loss narrowing to A$1.16M from A$5.05M the prior year, per its final ASX preliminary report.
Could AI replace Ansarada's virtual data room business?
Core VDR tasks like document sorting, redaction, translation and Q&A are exactly what frontier LLMs do natively, and Ansarada itself has automated these via its own Ansarada Intelligence suite. As of April 2026 it partnered with Harvey and Blueflame AI rather than competing with them, positioning VDR as a lower plumbing layer beneath AI dealmaking tools.
Who is Ansarada's biggest competitor?
Datasite was Ansarada's top VDR rival before acquiring it in August 2024 for A$236.3M and becoming its parent. Australia's ACCC also named Intralinks, plus Box, SharePoint and Google Drive, as competitive constraints on the merged Datasite-Ansarada entity in its 24 July 2024 review.
Is it safe to take a job at Ansarada right now?
Headcount was roughly 178-184 employees through 2024-2025 with no reported layoffs, but Ansarada is now a subsidiary of Datasite (owned by CapVest) with no standalone public financials since the August 2024 acquisition, creating uncertainty about whether it stays a distinct product line or gets consolidated.
