The call

Apexon survives on client relationships and vertical know-how while AI tools shrink the hourly work it bills for and larger rivals fight for the same accounts.

Apexon makes money by helping companies test software and build applications, similar to what Accenture, TCS, and Cognizant do but at a smaller scale. It is not hard to replace because larger competitors already offer the same services to bigger clients, and AI tools that write and test code automatically are starting to do much of the work that Apexon's employees do. The company is owned by a private equity firm that typically sells businesses after five to seven years, so whether investors make money depends entirely on who buys it and at what price, which is uncertain in an industry that looks less attractive to buyers right now.

Why
01
AI pressure: AI coding assistants and autonomous testing agents (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, testing agents). AI agents now write and test code directly, compressing the billable QA and app-dev hours Apexon sells by the hour. Could AI do the core job? Yes, likely.
02
Bigger players: Accenture, TCS, Cognizant, Infosys, Wipro, HCLTech, Capgemini. Giants with far bigger sales forces and AI budgets undercut Apexon on price and scale in the same QA and staff-aug lanes. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. Long-standing client relationships and healthcare/BFSI vertical depth give some workflow lock-in, but no proprietary technology backs it.
What would change this call
Goldman Sachs/Everstone initiate or complete a sale process for Apexon. Would confirm PE exit timing and reveal market's real valuation of the business.
Apexon names specific enterprise clients using AgentRise or AWS/Dataiku/Aisera tools. Would show partnerships are generating real revenue, not just press releases.
Apexon headcount rises above 4,500 or falls below 3,500 in next two quarters. Would reveal whether the company is actually growing or continuing to shrink from 2022 peak.

Questions people ask
Is Apexon profitable?
Apexon is privately held and does not publish audited financials, so profitability cannot be confirmed. It is backed by Goldman Sachs Asset Management and Everstone Capital as of a 2026-06-29 Great Place to Work profile, with revenue at merger in April 2022 described only as approaching $500M.
Who owns Apexon?
Apexon is owned by private equity: funds managed by Goldman Sachs Asset Management and Everstone Group/Capital, confirmed in a Great Place to Work company profile dated 2026-06-29. It has not filed for an IPO or disclosed a new funding round since the 2022 Infostretch merger.
Could AI replace Apexon's work?
Apexon's core QA/test automation and staff-augmentation app-dev work is directly exposed to AI coding and testing agents. In response it launched its own agentic AI platform AgentRise on 2025-07-30 and signed an AWS agentic AI deal for healthcare on 2026-06-23, but independent proof of margin or win impact is not yet public.
Who is Apexon's biggest competitor?
Mid-tier peers Coforge and Persistent Systems are consolidating and growing faster; Coforge closed a $2.35B acquisition of Encora in April 2026 while larger incumbents Accenture, TCS, Cognizant, Infosys, Wipro, HCLTech and Capgemini compete in the same accounts at far greater scale.
Who is Apexon's CEO?
Sriniketh Chakravarthi is identified as CEO in a 2026-02-05 biography and has held the role since the 2022 merger. A June 2026 Datanyze listing names Stefan Mirilovic as CEO instead, but no press release confirms a leadership change, so this is likely a data error, unconfirmed.
What AI products has Apexon launched?
Apexon launched its proprietary agentic AI platform AgentRise on 2025-07-30, partnered with Dataiku for regulated-industry AI on 2025-05-15, partnered with Aisera for agentic AI/ITSM on 2025-08-14, and signed an AWS agentic AI deal for healthcare/life sciences on 2026-06-23.
