The call

APR leads Korea's beauty-device market on brand and distribution, while LG H&H and Amorepacific build rival devices and AI diagnostics without yet pulling share away.

APR Corporation makes skincare devices sold mostly overseas (like at Sephora and Nykaa) and has sold over 6 million units with strong profits. It is hard to beat right now because of its brand name, the stores that sell it, and customers who already own its products and buy more, but there is nothing that stops other companies from making similar devices. LG and Amorepacific, two much larger Korean beauty companies, have already launched their own devices and are copying APR's success, and Amorepacific is adding AI technology to diagnose skin problems, which APR has not done yet. The biggest question is whether APR can keep growing as fast when the market gets bigger and these rivals grab market share, and whether it can launch a medical-grade device that regulators approve before its competitors do.

Why
01
AI pressure: Amorepacific's AI skin-diagnostic tools (Skinsight, Dr. AMORE, Samsung AI Beauty Mirror). Amorepacific pitches AI skin diagnostics as a reason to buy its devices instead of Medicube's; APR has no equivalent AI layer yet. Could AI do the core job? Only partly.
02
Bigger players: LG Household & Health Care (LG Pra.L) and Amorepacific device lines. Both Korean giants now sell competing beauty devices; LG Pra.L grew 447% in five months post-acquisition. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. Brand heat plus executed global distribution: 6M+ devices sold, 90% international sales, live in Sephora, Ulta, and Nykaa.

Questions people ask
Is APR Corporation profitable in 2025?
Yes. APR reported FY2025 consolidated revenue of KRW 1.53 trillion (about USD 1.05 billion), up 111% YoY, with operating profit of KRW 365.4 billion (+198% YoY) and a 24% operating margin, per company results dated 2026-02-04.
Who is Medicube's biggest competitor?
LG Household & Health Care's LG Pra.L device brand grew 447% in the five months after LG H&H acquired it in June 2025. Amorepacific is also contesting with AI-diagnostic tech like Skinsight (CES 2026 award) and its June 2026 Facial Aging Map.
Could AI replace Medicube's beauty devices?
Unlikely to replace the physical hardware, but rival Amorepacific has built AI-diagnostic layers (Skinsight, Dr. AMORE Facial Aging Map, June 2026) that APR has no public equivalent for as of July 2026, risking a differentiation gap rather than product replacement.
Is APR Corporation still growing in 2026?
Yes. Q1 2026 revenue reached KRW 593.4 billion, up 123.0% YoY, with operating profit of KRW 152.3 billion (+173.7% YoY) and overseas sales at roughly 90% of total, per results reported 2026-05-07.
Has APR overtaken Amorepacific and LG H&H in value?
By August 2025, APR's market cap reached about KRW 8.5 trillion, surpassing Amorepacific (~KRW 7 trillion) and LG H&H (~KRW 4.6 trillion). By May 2026 APR's cap had climbed to roughly KRW 16 trillion.
Is APR/Medicube facing any controversy in 2026?
In July 2026, APR publicly rebutted allegations that its '625% absorption rate' marketing claim echoed Korean War symbolism, releasing Tego Science lab test data in its defense; the controversy was still active as of July 7, 2026.
