Attabotics
Canadian maker of 3D robotic storage systems, revived after 2025 bankruptcy sale.
Attabotics exists again only because LaFayette bought its bones cheap, and it now faces the same AutoStore dominance that helped bankrupt it the first time.
Attabotics builds warehouse robots that move goods around in tall storage systems. The company burned through cash for years, lost money on almost every dollar of sales, and collapsed in 2025, getting bought by a private family company called LaFayette Systems. It now competes directly against AutoStore, which already controls about three-quarters of this market and has far more customers and revenue. AutoStore just added AI features to its software in early 2026, which means Attabotics can no longer claim its software is better or different. The one thing that could matter: if Attabotics lands big new customers and releases its own AI software that works as well as what AutoStore offers by the end of 2026, it might survive. If nothing new shows up by then, the company probably cannot recover.
Attabotics ships an AI or software feature comparable to AutoStore's CubeVerse/Intelligence within 12 months. Would show it can still compete on the software layer it once claimed as differentiator.
Further creditor claims or asset sales tied to the original bankruptcy estate reported through 2026. Would show the old entity's financial unwind is still unresolved.
- $49.5M CAD net loss in 2024
- 192 of 203 staff cut in mid-2025
- Assets sold for fraction of $73.8M liabilities
- Original entity's bankruptcy left $73.8M liabilities vs $31.6M assets, reputational overhang for relaunched brand.
- No disclosed post-relaunch customer wins or revenue as of mid-2026 under LaFayette Systems.
- Core software differentiation (The Weave) being commoditized by AutoStore/Geek+ AI feature launches in March 2026.
- Integration risk: LaFayette expanding US manufacturing (March 2026) while rebuilding go-to-market from near-zero staff.
- Bankruptcy creditor claims process still unwinding as of November 2025 report, could surface further liabilities.

- Is Attabotics still in business?
- The original Attabotics Inc. filed for bankruptcy protection in Canada between June 30 and July 2, 2025, and terminated about 192 of its 203 employees. Its assets were sold in September 2025 to LaFayette Systems, which relaunched the Attabotics brand as a business unit in February 2026.
- Did Attabotics ever make a profit?
- No. Attabotics never achieved profitable operations, posting a net loss of $49.5 million CAD in 2024 on reported revenue over $50 million, following a $43 million CAD net loss in 2023, according to bankruptcy filings reported July 7, 2025.
- Who owns Attabotics now?
- Attabotics' technology and assets are owned by LaFayette Systems, a Kentucky-based family-owned material handling company, after it acquired them via an Asset Purchase Agreement dated September 17, 2025, court-approved September 22, 2025. LaFayette publicly relaunched the brand February 10, 2026.
- Were there layoffs at Attabotics?
- Yes. On June 30 to July 2, 2025, Attabotics terminated roughly 192 of its 203 employees as part of a Canadian bankruptcy filing, retaining only about 11 to 12 key personnel to manage the wind-down, per BetaKit and CBC reporting from July 2025.
- Is Attabotics a safe company to join?
- Caution warranted. The original Attabotics collapsed into bankruptcy in mid-2025 with $73.8 million in liabilities against $31.6 million in assets as of March 31, 2025. It now operates as a small business unit inside LaFayette Systems with no disclosed post-relaunch headcount or customer wins as of 2026.
- Who is Attabotics' biggest competitor?
- AutoStore, the Norwegian cube-storage AS-RS leader, dominates the market Attabotics competes in, with over 1,600 installations and 2024 revenue above $640 million. AutoStore shipped AI features called CubeVerse and AutoStore Intelligence on March 19, 2026, intensifying pressure on smaller rivals like Attabotics.
